  1. There is no perfect drive for that job, too many permutations/ mobo/chipset/media Take your pick and hope for the best. Or buy good quality media and decrease the risk
  2. Send them back but where did you get them from so others can avoid them for the time being.
  3. Therefore the response I gave is still true. Its in the log window you can walk away from computer for 2 weeks and the log will still be there. Why don't you just keep the log window open at all times and dock it with main window so it sits underneath all neat. view/ tick log or Ctrl+Alt+L
  4. I knew which dvd writer you had, I was asking about the home dvd player you say the disc's will not work in, you have already said they work on your computer so I would assume you read them with the LG
  5. Might be it does not like the brand of media you have, it might be because your DVD player only like DVD+r if the booktype was set to DVD-ROM. It may also be that your DVD player does not play copies. What model DVD player is it. It could also be that the content your burnt was Avi/divx/xvid/mp4 and your home DVD player would have to be able to decode that format your computer will have the codec's installed to allow playback.
  6. where is the log file from that one then After upgrading firmware did you restart computer and which disc's are you using
  7. L_UK must have read that you had a pioneer 112 Which 1.22 is the latest firmware for that model He is right about everything else he typed though and you should act upon the advice given. for your pioneer 111 There is firmware 1.29
  8. It already does in log window, enable the log view instead
  9. you do not need to install them if you do not want to. Unless you want to use the lightscribe feature.
  10. You need to set your memory to 266 [133x2] and your CPU to 266 [133x2] , that way you are running them synchronous and the best your system will handle. (at the minute your cpu is @ 133x2 [266 effective] and your memory @ 165x2)[333 effective] out of sync Running your memory at 266 will also allow you to lower the CAS and therefore the latency of the memory will be better, you also may be able to do 1T command rate instead of the 2T Set your memory in bios to 2.0-3-3-6
  11. Happy Birthday 2 shags in a week guaranteed. You timed everything nicely mate.
  12. that chipset should do 400 fsb kt600 vt8377 just did a quick search as missed the chipset bit in his post when I quickly read it http://techreport.com/articles.x/5836/1
  13. When you have all 3 in you would have to select the slowest modules speed for all 3 in your case that would be pc2700 (333) 2.5-3-3-7 for all in bios for cas and choose ddr333 or pc2700 whichever it says in bios if your cpu is fsb333 but if your cpu is 266 fsb you would be better running sync with cpu at ddr266 or pc2100, If you cpu is fsb400 then go with bottom option and ditch the 2700 module Would be better if your mobo can run the memory in 128 bit eg Dual channel mode with just 2 sticks (if your mobo has that feature) Or ditch 1 of the 512 modules the 2700 one and then you can run at pc3200 (ddr400) with cas in bios set to 3.0-3-3-8 giving you 1536 meg
  14. Halloween and then Bonfire night, ooh and Christmas are all in the way yet.
  15. There is a 1.11 update for your drive http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?cate...p;manufactor=38
  16. 420w should be ok for an xp 2400+ and your other hardware. AFAIK Clonedvd gets along with ImgBurn fine, maybe they updated one of their drivers and your system does not like it. Maybe post the filter driver load order from tools menu in ImgBurn. Do not understand how you can say the hard drive is ok when you re posted to say that the 112 will not verify the disc, and you say that . see below If you copied the iso from corrupted hard drive where filesystem has errors onto the 10 gig you would also copy the glitches across. Do yourself a favour and scan the 500gig for filesystem errors by right clicking on drive and choose properties and tools and error checking (check now), tick top box only and if prompted can only be done on next reboot say yes (to rule it out) and then try to verify or burn another copy on your pioneer 112 update firmware on 112 to latest first. best bet would be to get the game and create the ISO again from your hardware with xbc2.5 and complete backup
  17. disable it or unistall it then verify the disc against iso
  18. Scan the hard drive the ISO is stored on for file system errors, try and verify the disc against the ISO from a DVD ROM drive failing that make sure you do not have anydvd installed actually just see below Reinstall XP or whatever operating system you have with the least amount of crap as possible. EG install operating system then install chipset drivers (if nvidia nforce do not install the ide drivers) just let xp pick them up and use ms standard then install gfx driver and then try with verbatim media on a dvd writer that has the latest firmware and set booktype to DVD-ROM pioneer 111 112 will do this for you and burn at 2.4x only. Maybe also check to see if your PSU is good enough at least a 500watt with at least 22A - 26A on 12v line, higher than 500w is a must nowadays on recent systems.
  19. Maybe try a cd cleaner on the sony drive b4 ditching it. That is if after cleaning it still refuses to write verbs at 2.4x EDIT . Consider Chewy's suggestion above b4 your buy new drive as well.
