  1. Thanks Shamus. Oh, and what is x264?
  2. I could, but then I can't say that your all a bunch of Mister betas! . [edit] corny beat me to the reply - and I live GMT +12 hours, so most times will be different.[/edit]
  3. And the winner is: ifcrule1972!!!! Maybe we should start a petition to ban him for a week to let LUK catch up!! Surprisingly, it is mostly made up of Beta Team Members, most of which registered on the 10th of September 2005 (which is when I think LUK told his former beta testers he has a new program to test, also maybe because LUK didn't put the forums online until the 9th of September 2005). Movie_Junkie is the only Member to make it into the top ten. spinningwheel needs to make two more posts to make five squares on his level. I wouldn't mind betting the top two live on the forums, just so they can compete for the top spot. And when I eventually live on the internet, I will donate a sizeable amount to LUK (not over 3 figs) for his great program.
  4. I had the same problem with my first dvd writer. I had just bought a DVD+RW (which I didn't know at the time) and bought the cheapest dvds I could find (DVD-R 5 pack). Permission to start laughing: granted. . Now the DVD laser is gone, so it can only write CD-R/RW now. Permission to start laughing: denied.
  5. Happy Birthday Pain_Man!! I was thinking of posting this thread for Pain_Man's birthday yesterday. .
  6. Haven't tried that media yet, but I have experienced some discs showing a slightly higher speed than what is on the packaging. I have the exact same drive and firmware, so its probably the disc and firmware that is telling you it can burn much faster.
  7. Funny about the Verbatim discs. In Australia and New Zealand, if you go to Jaycar Electronics, that is one of the only brands of disc they stock, including DVD+R DL .
  8. LUK, maybe you could compare the exit code of the two versions (2.0.0.0 and 2.1.0.0) and see if you made any changes. Doh, just remembered, you added the /NOSAVESETTINGS switch to ImgBurn. Maybe there is a problem there. Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud.
  9. It's just that LUK put in a way we all understand .
  10. There are some nicely modified pictures on that site. chewy must be an artist .
  11. This means that we will continue to stay with the setup we currently have. Heck, I have both Windows XP Pro and Windows 98 SE dual booting with GAG on my machine just so I can run all of my old games on the Windows 98 SE install (I am also thinking about using my 98 install to browse the net when I eventually get a connection at home - just so that my XP install won't be plagued with viruses?? (maybe virii?)). [edit] I believe in free software, which is why I search sourceforge.net for a tool before searching anywhere else. List of apps I have found useful to me: CoolPlayer, NSIS, HM NIS Edit, 7-Zip, GAG bootloader, Mediacoder, and Audacity. I have also made the source code available with the plugins I have written for NSIS. Hopefully, I will start on a music player based on CoolPlayer that will be put on sourceforge.net. I will call it PlayItCool.[/edit]
  12. It is most likely the problem is with the authoring process. If the source dvd is an ntsc disc and your player is a pal system (or vice versa), you will probably get the error. Try reauthoring it with the tv system that is on you stand-alone dvd player (if you can). Otherwise, we can't really help you.
  13. Thats a bit weird, I was just looking up the history of the floppy disk today on wikipedia (who knows why).
  14. Wow . So the next time I find a bug, chances are it's already fixed .
  15. At the end of the burn, the words "File System Padding" are still visible after the burn has completed, and stays that way until the verify process starts. Maybe change it to say (finished!). [edit] In the manual, /NOSAVESETTING should be /NOSAVESETTINGS.[/edit]
  16. And just one other tiny feature I would like: To save the book type once you have set it (or default it to DVD-ROM). [edit] I only posted in here because it was on the subject of not saving certain settings.[/edit]
  17. Oh, and Groundrush got his maths wrong. It's 99.99%, not 99.09%.
  18. Well, it's been gone since this time last year, and it still works .
  19. I bought my harddrive at the end of 2003, and I bought my new motherboard in the middle of 2004. Plus, I don't have the money (yet) to make a completely new system. I don't do much burning anyway, and when I do it's usually to a 4x DVD+RW.
  20. My 40GB Maxtor 7200rpm is on the primary channel using 80 wire cable, while my two recoders are on the secondary channel using 40 wire cable. All drives show up as Ultra DMA 2.
  21. I managed to get my drive at a pretty resonable price: NZ $149.90 which is about US $80 (I think). I thought it was a very good deal since the drive is a LG GSA 4167B [edit] Super multi drive that writes these formats: CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW (the one I use most often), DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, DVD-RAM [/edit]with flashed firmware by me to DL13. I got mine in December 2005 and that is the month the drive was manufactured . I also have a Ricoh DVD+RW RW5240 with flashed firmware 1.19, funnily enough, can't read/write DVD's anymore. CD reading and writing is just fine. I use this drive to burn my audio cds because the LG DL12 firmware wrote unreadable first track info (who knows why), which is now fixed in the DL13 firmware. Good luck with your drive hunting/using .
  22. Mine shows for about 2.41745 seconds (approximately). @Imao2k
  23. Bummer. Looks like one feature just got crossed off my 'wanted features' list.
  24. I also sometimes get a read speed of between one and two times.
