  1. Try burning one at 4x then
  2. Make sure you're using the latest drivers available for your chipset, as that error doesn't usually appear without being preceded by a Write Error or some other I/O error. Can you test this burner on another computer? Or maybe with a SATA-to-USB adapter?
  3. The command to set the read speed is sent, but it's up to the burner to obey it or not, and unfortunately most burners simply ignore it
  4. Please read: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  5. Where are your Verbatim blanks made? It's written in the packaging. You may want to try burning one at 4x to see how it turns out.
  6. I know this may sound silly, but are you putting the writable discs in the DVD burner? I'm asking because you also have a CD burner, and that isn't capable of burning DVDs and shows a message similar to the one you're getting when you insert a blank writable disc in it.
  7. He meant you're using an older version of ImgBurn, and that bug has been fixed, so please download and install the latest version available.
  8. It's not a bug: ImgBurn reads the disc in order to suggest the image name based on the Volume Label of the disc. Look in Tools -> Settings -> Read tab
  9. I'm not sure this is the right place to ask for that kind of help, we only know how to use ImgBurn
  10. Use this type of disc: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  11. What's the error message?
  12. You can make your own .dvd file, here's an example: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtop...ost&p=82184
  13. There's firmware SB06 for the SH-S182M burner.
  14. Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. You might also want to try using the other available burning speeds. If that still doesn't work, try with DVD+R media (Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the best). I would go for a normal-size burner in an external enclosure, as that gives you much better quality burns
  15. There's firmware 1.04 (AD-7173 P-ATA in that page) available for your burner. Remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after it has finished. You might also want to try the other available burning speeds. If it still doesn't work, try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks
  16. Does it recognise burned/pressed discs? Please post the log from the latest burn you've done (Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs).
  17. What you want is in Tools -> Settings -> Build tab -> 'Clear Source MRU List' button. If you want this automatically done for you everytime ImgBurn is closed, tick the 'Clear Recent Files List' option in the Events tab
  18. This is the real error, which means the drive couldn't write on the disc. There's firmware 1.09 available for your burner. Remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after it has finished. You might want to try the other available write speeds, but that's crappy media in any case
  19. Try installing the latest Intel chipset utility and the latest drivers for the JMicron controller (look at those manufacturers' websites the drivers on Asus will probably be old).
  20. Try the NEC tab of the Book Type dialog
  21. Was the disc still spinning when that happened? Was the light blinking? What controller/chipset is the drive connected to? You can use device manager to check that.
  22. Can you be more specific? ImgBurn doesn't lock files so I'm not sure if we can help you
  23. Upgrade to the latest ImgBurn, as that'll allow you to use up to 512 MB for both I/O and Build mode buffers
  24. From what we can see it was a successful burn. Have you tried those discs on other DVD players? Next time try burning at 8x or 12x, as that'll give you a better quality burn.
