  3. Try installing this driver and this driver (one of them might say you don't have the correct hardware but that's not a problem). Those are the latest versions of the VIA storage drivers and hopefully should fix the problem you're having.
  4. Switch to Write mode, right-click the burner's name and go to Capabilities.
  5. That link also tells you a few things you can try for making it work if you actually read past the first line.
  6. Slimline burners are rubbish and matshita takes the crown in that department. Try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to do it. If that doesn't help then you should try with another burner, preferably a non-slimline one.
  7. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 - all you can try for making those discs works is listed here too.
  8. USB booting works like floppy/hard drive booting, and ImgBurn is for optical discs. You'll have to use an HDD cloning/ghosting software for backing up your bootable USB drive.
  9. Try burning at 4x or 6x. You could also try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to do it. Another option would be to try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden DVD+R media. By the way, what's the brand of those blanks you're using?
  10. ImgBurn burns as-is, i.e. it doesn't convert anything. For that you should use DVD Flick (free), ConvertXtoDVD (paid) or similar software.
  11. Update ImgBurn. Try burning at 4x. Try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to do it. If all that doesn't help then you could try finding the 2.4x rated Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks, or perhaps get an external, non-slimline burner, e.g., an Optiarc AD-7240S or 7260S in an external enclosure.
  12. The controller in RAID mode may be messing with the communication to the burner, so if you don't use RAID then change it to AHCI or IDE mode if you can. Installing the latest drivers for your chipset/storage controllers also helps.
  13. Start by reading the pink banner at the top of this page.
  14. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 If you're going to get an external burner then avoid the slimline burners, as they're as rubbish as your internal slimline one. Ideally it would be a normal size burner in an external enclosure, e.g. an Optiarc AD-7240S.
  15. The text on the right of ImgBurn's main window show the media information, which includes layer information.

  17. For dual-layer media the MDS is necessary, as it contains the position of the layerbreak. Even if you select the .iso file and there's a .mds with the same name, ImgBurn will select the .mds for you.
  18. If DVD+R DL is checked under Write Capabilities then yes, that burner can burn dual-layer media. While you're at it, have you read this?
  19. It's usually an incompatibility between your system's USB chipset and the external enclosure's USB chipset. Search this forum for semaphore timeout and try the suggestions you find (e.g. changing cables, updating drivers, etc).
  20. Try the other write speeds. Try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to do it. You could also try this firmware update.

  22. Try getting the 2.4x Made in Singapore ones if you can find them, as they should be better supporte by your burner. The 8x rated ones also should work.
  23. Update ImgBurn and use the 'Write files/folders to disc' option.
  24. Try burning at 4x or 6x. Try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to do it. If none of that helps then try getting the 2.4x Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks. Alternatively, you could get a non-slim, normal size burner in an external enclosure.
