  1. Look for a firmware update for your burner on your laptop's manufacturer website. If that doesn't solve your problem, you'd be better off buying an external burner.
  2. This is your problem: poor quality media. Get Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DVD-Rs (your drive only supports this format) and it should work fine.
  3. Have you changed type and/or brand of media lately? Is it single or dual-layer? Also, make sure you're using the latest firmware available for your burner.
  4. Please post the log from that failed burn (it's at Help/ImgBurn logs).
  5. Can you post the log of those burns? They're at Help/ImgBurn logs.
  6. Are you sure there are no other programs running that might be using/holding access to your burner? Also, please post a log from such failed burn (they're at Help/ImgBurn logs).
  7. From the info you've posted, it would fit on one DVD5 plus one CD. Use Windows Explorer to copy the data from the DVD to your HD, split the data as you wish, then use ImgBurn in Build mode to burn that data to disc
  8. For the unable to lock issue, the solution is in this post. The same program that is "holding" your burner may very well be causing the other error, so please close that program and try again.
  9. In ImgBurn, go to Tools/Drive/Check For Firmware Updates. If it's indeed a NEC ND-3500AG then the latest firmware available is 2.1B. And yes, if you use Verbatim DVD+R DLs it'll probably work without a firmware update, as this media has been around long enough that even the first dual-layer burners already supported it. It is a good practice to use the latest firmware, as it adds both write strategies for new media and better write strategies for older media. Also, don't forget to booktype to DVD-ROM before burning
  10. Sorry, but you won't be able to do that with ImgBurn, as ImgBurn can only build Mode 1 Form 1 discs/images.
  11. Your drive doesn't support that specific brand/dye of media you're using, so look for firmware updates for your burner. Also, use only Verbatim DVD+R DLs, as they're the only good ones, and burn at 2.4x for best results.
  12. The layer break for data DVDs is calculated automatically, or copied from the original disc if there's a .mds file
  13. You only need to select a layer break if there's DVD-Video content to be burnt. For normal data, it's calculated automatically. Please post the log from that burn (Help/ImgBurn logs), as it has important information that we could use. By the way, you can burn directly to media with Build mode (no need to build an ISO image first) by choosing 'Device' in the 'Output' menu
  14. Check if your burner has the latest firmware available. When it "hangs", have you tried cancelling the burn?
  15. Please paste the log from that burn. ImgBurn automatically saves them, and you can access at Help/ImgBurn logs.
  16. That HS06 firmware is pretty old. You should apply the newest firmware available HS0E.
  17. The newest firmware available for your burner is JL05, so you really should apply it
  18. There's newer firmware available for your burner (1.0d is the safest to use as 2.0e can be incompatible with your burner).
  19. The whole log of that burn would be useful, not just the part where it shows an unknown error
  20. There's a newer firmware available (LL12) for your burner. If that doesn't help, try using other brands of media, preferrably Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim. The RITEKG05 media is a bit of hit or miss, as it works for some people and doesn't work at all for others.
  21. Use ImgBurn in Read mode to make an ISO image from that DVD, then switch to Write mode to burn that ISO image to another DVD. This creates a perfect copy of the original DVD.
  22. There are lots of guides for various programs at VideoHelp.com
  23. ImgBurn can be launched by any program through the command line switches, which are all listed in ImgBurn's Readme file.
  24. From ImgBurn's changelog: Added: An alternative 'Padded' MD5 calculation for when burning + verifying an image on DVD+R media where the drive automatically pads the image so the last sector is divisible by 16. As you an see, it's the drive that does this, not ImgBurn.
  25. CMC is known for making low quality media, so that's why you're getting those errors. Verbatim DVD+Rs are some of the best available, so, if you can, try and get them. Also, you really should install the latest ImgBurn.
