You can not burn newer media at 1x speed. Minimum is at least 2x speed. If you load the disc in the burner and set ImgBurn to write you can see in the status window which write speeds are supported.

Posted

ekikos, As Coopervid stated, that may be one problem, but seeing as this is Imgburn support forum, wouldn't it be more advantagous to go the the support forum for Alcohol 120 as this is the program your using to burn with. , or perhaps use Imgburn to try and burn your image. :)

Why on earth would you join this forum and talk about Alcohol 120%?!

Your drive doesn't support those discs. A firmware update may fix that but the discs are pretty awful anyway.

get some Verbatim + or - or some Taiyo Yuden discs they are the best ,Verbs are easier to find in stores Yudens are online purchase . Ritek just isn't the company they were the last really good media they made were the GO4 4X discs

Posted

Also check the USB enclosure has the most recent firmware for the onboard chip!

Posted

Polo and L_UK are right on the money here. Get rid of the Ritek media. They truly are garbage. Also as suggested, get some genuine Verbatim media. If you fix the known problem first (in this case, those crappy disks), it's easier to find where other problems may be.

Posted

As lmao2k said, you need to find an update for your usb enclosure too.

Even with decent discs, it'll be no good if you keep getting...

W 18:50:59 Failed to Write Sectors 0 - 31 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.

... type errors.

Posted

I do value you opinion immensely, both Polo and L_UK, but if I am correct RITEKF1 are supposedly good quality discs, as SONY DVDs are identified by ImgBurn as RITEK. Now, ltes hope he is using proper RITEK ;)

I think the problem lies with the system.

Still it is the Masters who can give the final verdict and I am no where near to that. :D

Posted

Ditto the above, I always used to use Ritek but the quality on all their discs has dropped markedly. TY's only for me now.

Posted

Nah, a hundred TY's at a time for me, works out cheaper most of the time. :)

Posted

Hi Ifcrule1972

Thanks for the information.

BTW, Sony's DVD RW's Disc ID is RITEKW01, so this must be different from the user's here.

Is there any thread/ site from where I can check the reliability of a DVD from its Disc ID? I tried Google, but it was not much of a help. :(

I know ImgBurn team prefers Verbatim/TY, but these two are not always easily available in my part of world, though I have seen some 3 rd party manufacturers' Disc ID being TYG02, but I am not sure about the authenticity.

Presently I bought some discs of Disc ID POSG06 [this is -R Disc] and another with Disc ID MCC-003-00 [this is +R disc], both of them burnt and played perfectly, but I could not find much info on this type of discs.

Thank you again.

Have you searched this forum for media IDs? There's one or two in the Drives and Media area. :)

Thank you very much polopony :)

Can you give me any more info regarding POSG06? I searched ImgBurn as well as cdfricks. videohelp etc, but did not find much info. :(

Posted

I've never seen or heard of POSG06.

So long as it doesn't stand for 'Piece Of Shit', you might be ok :)

If you have a drive that supports PIPO scanning in DVDInfoPro/CdSpeed, you can test them for yourself.

Posted

I'll be happy to test and post the result here for the your review as well as for the benifit of others.

Could you please tell me how to run the test? I also have NERO CD DVD SPEED Ver 4.7.00....will it do?

Thank you.
