Assuming the program is getting the correct status codes back from the drive and the drive doesn't have a big problem with the disc you're using, the drive should take about 15 minutes to format a DVD at 4x. Well, based on my own testing, they almost never work unless FHT has been enabled. So do the next one at 4x and with FHT enabled.

1st failure? Just try another disc. If it happens again, try burning at 4x instead of 3x - maybe you should just do that anyway. It it still happens, try enabling 'Force HyperTuning'.

Your drive / system is reporting that specific error code (which translates to there being no media in the drive and the tray being closed. If it's not true, either the hardware is broken or something on your system is just making the error code up. As I mentioned in my previous message, set the 'SPTI - Device Enumeration Method' to 'Device Interface', NOT 'Device Class'.

Do you have a log from when it's connected via SATA? I may need a debug log from when it detects the drives available on your machine. To do that, load the program as normal, then press the F8 key to enable I/O Debug mode, then click Tools -> Search for SCSI/ATAPI devices, then copy + paste everything from the log window.
