Did you verify the burn? Maybe 4x isn't the best speed for burning those discs on your drive? Try one of the other 'supported' speeds.

Your drive doesn't like the discs you're using. Are you sure your mate has a DVD burner and not just a CD burner/DVD reader?

Suggestions for features in IMG burn
LIGHTNING UK! replied to mrrogers's topic in ImgBurn Suggestions
I think you're getting the 'style' confused with something else. ImgBurn still has the same interface it's had since day 1 and that's basically exactly the same as DVD Decrypter's one. -
Device Not Ready (Medium not Present - Tray Closed)
LIGHTNING UK! replied to switchwoo's topic in ImgBurn Support
You drive isn't seeing the media... so it probably doesn't support it. Use some decent 'write once' stuff instead - i.e. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Update ImgBurn too, you're way out of date.... where did you get such an old version? -
Only leave it on that until the next release of ImgBurn that has a work around for the nvidia driver bug. SPTI is the better interface to use.

If you've tried 2 spindles of singapore made verb dl's and you've tried burning at all the supported write speeds, it's time to consider the drive 'dead'. To be sure though, put the drive in another pc and check it still fails. Filter wise, you can try removing these ones: Upper Class Filter: pwd_2k Upper Class Filter: GEARAspiWDM Lower Class Filter: drvmcdb Lower Class Filter: PxHelp20

It will already be bootable if it's in ISO format. Load the image in Write mode and look at the 'File Systems'. It should show 'ISO9660 (Bootable)' somewhere in the list. You have to burn the ISO to a disc, you can't just copy it to a USB pen.

The media they used is rubbish and your drive can't read it. Try it in another drive.
-
It's only your PC burner that's classing it as a BD-ROM (because it's no longer writable). The disc info still clearly states it's BD-R. If your samsung thing needs a multisession BD-R then it's...erm... shit.
-
That means nothing to me. If you can't provide an ImgBurn log then I can't help you!
-
No log file = no help I'm afraid.
-
Did you try what I suggested in my previous post? (i.e write speeds and write type) They're the only settings that really make a difference.

DVD Burner and SPTI issues in XP Home Edition SP3
LIGHTNING UK! replied to eckoman's topic in ImgBurn Support
I'm sure nero has some little tool that gives normal users the ability to use SPTI. Maybe the option got toggled off somehow. Failing that, I believe this is the registry key that gets manipulated when you use secpol.msc. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...6.mspx?mfr=true -
Update ImgBurn and try again once you've got some verbatim discs.
-
Maybe it was just a fluke bad burn... have you tried again since? Are you using decent media? i.e. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden Your drive is getting on a bit now (it's not even dual format), maybe it's time for a new one? You need to update ImgBurn too, version 2.4.2.0 is the latest.
-
It's not in the forum, it's in the program (i.e. ImgBurn) If you don't have it, you must be using an old version - Update!

PMA errors on an LG drive, that's a weird thing to happen. Try burning those 8x discs at one of the other 'supported' write speeds, you may have more luck. Note that by selecting 2x (which isn't supported) you've already tried 2.4x.

Because BD-RE are always writable - BD-R obviously aren't! I don't get your point with the DVDInfoPro stuff. My disc info is layed out exactly as returned by the drive so you can see exactly which command / fields are returning what data. There's no trickery going on behind the scenes.

I've attached a directory listing (using 'dir /b /s > C:\win2k3.txt' ) from a proper 2003 cd and the bootimage so you can compare it against your own. If you're using ImgBurn 2.4.2.0 it should detect you're building an OS install disc and change all the appropriate settings for you. WIN2K3.zip

That's not the booktype, that's the current profile. One hasn't been finalised and hence still shows as BD-R, the other has been and shows as BD-ROM (as it's no longer writable).

Problem Burning Verbatim DVD-R on Asus X51R
LIGHTNING UK! replied to TriumphRider's topic in ImgBurn Support
The 'Filter Driver Load Order' option in the Tools menu can remove those too. -
That doesn't mean it'll work though. If your drive is reporting 'medium not present' then it doesn't like the disc you've put in it. PS2 disc can be CD or DVD so if you're trying to read a DVD one you'll obvioulsly need a drive that can read DVD's.
