What message is shown in the statusbar at this point? It looks like an odd controller problem to me, your drive has a messed up identifier string. Do you know what controller the drive is attached to? Is it SATA or PATA? Who makes the chipset?
-
What does it say in the log window? copy + paste everything. Maybe the drive on the host computer isn't a burner?

Stuck at 2.4X burn speed with single layer discs
LIGHTNING UK! replied to ButchN's topic in ImgBurn Support
That log shows you opening and closing the program, nothing more. You're going to have to actually burn one (+ verify) to get us a decent log. -
I doubt that! It would never report success to a burn + verify if the image was 7gb and the disc wasn't a DL one, it's impossible! Of course if you want to provide the portion of the log where it does that, please be my guest.
-
Try burning at 8x. Slower doesn't always mean better. Failing that, get a new drive.
-
If it burns and verifies ok, yes it should work. (assuming the source is ok to start with)
-
Anywhere that sells one. As for the firmware update, you'd have to speak with whoever made your PC.
-
Can you plug the drive in internally, even if just for testing? It could be that your usb adapter is causing the command to hang like that.
-
Build mode burn 'as-is', so unless your player says it can play WMV files, that'll be why the discs aren't working. Use something like DVD Flick or ConvertXtoDVD to convert the WMV into proper DVD Video files/discs.

newbie having problems burning xbox 360 backup games
LIGHTNING UK! replied to sambookaman's topic in ImgBurn Support
Can't lock volume - covered in the FAQ. Problems burning DL media - look in the 'pinned' post at the top of the forum - which basically tells you to buy the 2.4x speed verbatims as they're by far the most 'compatible' DL disc. Any problems at all with burning - post copy of the log. -
Yes (or at least there was?) The ones from Singapore are better.

Read the pink bit at the top of this forum. -
That looks better You're using DVD-R, just enable 'Test Mode' and try one - it won't actually write to it. If the speed is ok (i.e it take 5 - 15 mins, not 1.5 hours!), turn 'Test Mode' back off again and burn.
-
I said to try the drive in another pc, not the media. If the drive still can't burn DVD's in another machine, you can conclude that either: 1. It doesn't like CMC or Sony media. 2. The drive is faulty. So try it in another PC and see how you get on. Then try some Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden media as mentioned in post number 2. If all else fails, get yourself a new drive.

The ImgBurn opening page/image is not logical
LIGHTNING UK! replied to pcspeak's topic in ImgBurn Bugs
'Read disc to image file' is the only real alternative for the Read mode button. I'm sure that's any better than what it says now. What do you expect for Build mode with Image file output?! 'Write files/folders to image file' - yeah because that makes loads of sense too! Verify mode verifies a disc, not an image. I would say the image / words for that are fine. There is no 'source -> destination' going on there. I made no effort with discovery and I really don't care if people can't make a logical connection between the picture and the text on that one. -
Laptop drives aren't reliable and matshita ones are probably some of the worst. If it won't even burn to the best DL discs money can buy then you don't have much choice but to get an external drive. Your verbs are the ones made in Singapore though - right?
-
Try the drive in another pc, maybe it's just faulty? Try another drive in your PC to make sure it's not your setup that's the problem.
-
Nope, he said it for fun. (That was sarcasm btw) There's a whole thread about it here: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
-
lol you have a totally different drive and therefore need different firmware. (That's what you get for hijacking other peoples threads!) http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/DH-16A3L/files.html That said, you have an HP machine yeah? According to the HP website, '8H1F' is the latest firmware release. You may or may not be able to flash with 8P55... and I'm not even sure if you'd want to (8H1F was released after it - Jan Vs April)
-
You've downloaded the RAR file yeah? Open it (you'll need WinRAR or similar to decompress it) and then run the exe that's inside.
-
As you've already noticed, ImgBurn's Build mode is nothing like Nero's one - this is 'by design'. It's designed to be basic, quick and dirty. If you need a proper interface, stick to Nero! If you have a folder full of files/folders you want to burn, just drag that single folder to the source box (from an explorer window) or add it via the 'Browse for folder' button. When you go to write the disc you'll be asked if that folder represents the root folder, say 'yes' and only its contents will appear on the disc. If you select 'no', that folder itself will be written to the root. i.e. with 'C:\Folder1\' in the source box (with subfolder 'Folder2'), you'll end up with the following: 'Yes' -> '(Disc)\Folder2\' 'No' -> '(Disc)\Folder1\' -> '(Disc)\Folder1\Folder2\' Other than what I've just mentioned, think of the 'source' box as the root of the disc. Whatever you drag into it will be visible in the root of the disc.
-
1 hour 10 mins to get to that point! Cynthia is right, you have DMA issues! Because of this, the drive will be running with the 'burnproof' feature working MEGA overtime. Sort your machine out and hopefully they'll work ok then.
-
If a player can't read a disc it will often skip about a bit before eventually freezing. (Different drives read discs better/worse than others) It would appear the freeze is actually crashing your entire unit. Verbatim discs are better quality and therefore easier to read - hence no freeze / hang / crash. So you're not doing anything wrong, nor is the program. Use better media and the problem will go away.
-
One is BD-R and the other is BD-RE. You don't perform the same commands on both formats. One needs finalising, the other doesn't. If your player doesn't like the BD-RE then you should stop using them. You might have more luck with some decent BD-RE from Verbatim though.

reason error : Audio Play Operation in Process
LIGHTNING UK! replied to vex555's topic in ImgBurn Support
I assume your PC came pre-assembled then Open Device Manager and expand the IDE / ATAPI controller branch and the SCSI/RAID one. Then, if possible, get a screenshot. If no, you'll have to write out roughly what you see.
