Looks like another Dual Layer DVD problem....
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Kev_83's topic in ImgBurn Support
Although it may have worked before, burning discs is not quite as simple as working/not working. There are hundreds of levels between something working and not working. You've no idea how close to 'not working' your 'working' burns were - if you catch my drift?! Not only that, things change. Drives wear out and discs degrade. There's nothing constant in this business except the software you're using - which of course does not deteriorate over time You also have to take into account that the brand name (or lack of it) stamped on a disc doesn't mean anything at all. It's the dye that's important and a brand may make use of several differeny dye types. So there's nothing to say that the first spindle of discs you buy from a certain brand will be the same as the next lot. That aside, your drives firmware should always be kept up-to-date. To not update it is to still be running Windows 95 in the year 2007 - i.e. stupid. -

Update the firmware and try again. http://www.de.nec.de/software/2325_FW_ND-3540A_win104.zip If you'd have read any of the other DL post on this (or any other) forum you'd have already seen that pretty much the only DL discs people recommend are Verbatim ones. -
It almost seems as if you're missing the point here, the burn time IS visible if you've not shut the window that tells you everything - i.e. the Log window! Have you ever even looked at the log window? As I said previously, it's supposed to be left open at all times.
-
No of course it's not hard, just all the info is added to the log window - which is an integral part of the program and not really supposed to be closed down. It's an extension of the main window, although not physically part of it.
-
If there's no disc in it, it certainly shouldn't be returning that status. It only does that after you put a disc in it and it then initialises it. Only when it's finished that stage can software access it.

It's part of the file system specs that whatever program creates the image containing said file system fills out this field with an appropriate value.

Writer OK, but stops randomly and produces coasters!

Pioneer produce firmware updates to file a whole host of problems. You should just be updating the drive's firmware just as you update any other software - it's all the same thing. The latest is v1.22. The motherboard bios updates are also important - especially if they update the jmicron controller bios too. They don't work at the best of times. I've not seem ImgBurn freeze during a burn to the point where you can't do anything with it. All the I/O is in it's own thread so even if your drivers stop accepting commands, the GUI will still respond until you try and kill it via some forceful method. Keep an eye on the log window and on the status bar because that's where it says what it's doing at any given point in time. That info is vital to trying to locate/fix any potential issues. -

You've got it on what's probably a jmicron controller (as the ICH9 doesn't have a real IDE port anymore). So have you tried updating the bios on the motherboard (which then updates the jmicron bios I expect - if not do that manually too) ? You should also try the latest jmicron driver for within windows. Of course the bios on the 111 should be kept up-to-date too. It helps if you can post a log from ImgBurn of where it's failing - a screenshot too or something. -
So long as you only want to burn CD's, yeah. If you want to burn DVD's you'll obviously need a DVD burner.
-
The program doesn't really have any minimum requirements. (besides having a cd/dvd burner!) If your machine is powerful enough to write at the selected speed, it'll work fine. Just slow the write speed down until it can handle it and the buffers aren't all over the place.
-
Damn it, I didn't get on here yesterday and now I've missed it! Soz corny, hope you had a good one
-
The drive just appears to be creating a bad burn after the LB position. It's exact location isn't the issue. Switch to using Verbatims (try burning at all speeds available - i.e. 2.4x and 4x if offered) and the problem will go away. Verbatim DVD+R DL discs are the only ones worth using.
-
It's in the file system and I doubt you can avoid it. You'd have to manually remove it and recalculate all the CRC's. btw, all that info is visible in ImgBurn too. Hover the mouse over where the volume label goes on the main screen and you'll get a tooltip with Volume Identifier, Volume Set Identifier (* in next version), Application ID, Implementation ID and File System(s) in it.
-
Checking it means the disc you create breaks the DVD Video specs. Not all players can cope with such discs and could just hang at the layer break point. The same is true of the disc you'd have created had you have not taken the image back to the raw files and instead just burnt it as-is, ignoring the warning message that it wasn't built for (OTP) DVD+R DL.
-
Nope, there's currently no way to do that. I seem to recall hiding the Queue window on purpose so people cannot switch the order of images (mainly the 'current'/'next' one) because it's not handled anywhere and would mess things up. It was a quick and dirty method until I get around to actually supporting it being changed at that point in time. ISF is 'ImgBurn Support Forum' so not really putting you down in terms of the program itself
-
ImgBurn will only work with 'new' discs. You can't add stuff to 'used' ones, even if they've been left 'open'. Stick with a full blown tool like Nero for that job. That said, if you really must have drag + drop functionality I think you're going to need to install some packet writing software. Well, it's that or you move over to DVD-RAM for times when you think you'll need to add to a disc. Personally I'd just use a memory stick for things like that.

My Plextor is awful on all rewritable media to be honest with you! It hardly ever works! For future reference, you click 'View' -> 'Log' to show the log window. You can also access auto-saved logs via the 'Help' menu. The log window should be visable all the time really as that's where all the progress info goes. I certainly don't close mine down!
-
This has been implemented for the next version. The thing is, the file system still has to have them listed alphabetically, you can't avoid that. So all you're doing is changing the physical position of the file on the disc. It would be weird if the player used the Start LBA address to order the files rather than the order they're in within the file system - i.e. alphabetically.
-
It's better if you post the contents of the log window (which you've closed down).
-
Hello and welcome Please post a copy of the burn/verify log. (check the 'help' menu in the program)
-
Yup, don't worry if they error out, just cancel it and move onto the next one. It won't damage anything.

question about creating a layer break
LIGHTNING UK! replied to make believe's topic in ImgBurn Support
If you put the LB on a file, it means there's no layer change in the middle of the video - so yeah, that's a good thing -
WinRAR can browse an ISO. Failing that, get yourself a copy of DAEMON Tools and 'mount' the ISO as a virtual drive that you can then browse/explore as if it were a real one. Within Windows XP, the IMAPI interface should let you drag and drop to a CD - but you still need to click the 'Write these files to disc' button for it to actually do the burning. With Vista I believe that's also supported for DVDs.

Do all three in order top to bottom.
