You can google 'Power Calibration Error' and find the cause. Software used shouldn't come into it, but if it's using Incremental over SAO/DAO (as ImgBurn defaults to), that could be the reason. Sometimes, in certain situations, one may work where the other doesn't.
-
Region controls have nothing to do with reading burnt media so (and I think you've already found this out) you don't need it running. Something somewhere must be accessing your DVD burner or the lock wouldn't be failing. In any case, if you provide us with a log of a failed burn, we might be able to spot issues besides the locking one. The drive not locking shouldn't mean it fails ALL the time, it just means it's more likely to if something tries to access the disc during the burn.
-
Either limit the write speed to 4x (or maybe even 6x), or get yourself a gigabit network card in both PC (and a gigabit router). At the moment you're hitting the max speed of a 100mb lan. EDIT: Damn it, too late now! Got a phonecall in the middle of writing my response

The burn quality is nothing to do with the software being used. After that, each program has it's own set of features that make people (not) want to use it. ImgBurn has the burn queue, better DL support (including layer break selection/preview and 32k gaps), support for changing advanced drive features, the automatic write speed control stuff, the ability to capture burn speed/buffer/cpu info during the write operation. It also keeps you informed of everything it's doing - believe it or not, people really like that! It's just lots of little things to be honest. At the end of the day, you pays your money (or not in the case of ImgBurn) and makes your choice. Each to their own and all that. Oh and of course you'll get enthusiastic people here on this forum - why else would they be here?! Being able to get support from the actual developer must be nice too Try getting that from a company
-
It all comes down to where you want to play them. All of them support individual files up to at least 4GB in size, but UDF allows beyond that. Some standalone players (or media centres on ps2 etc) might only like ISO9660 + Joliet (i.e. NOT UDF). Computers would probably rather see UDF - so long as you're not running Windows 3.1 / 95. If you JUST use ISO9660 you're limited to short file names - unless you adjust the 'Restrictions' options. So basically, try the one with all 3 and if you can see/play your files how you want them to, stick with it. If not, try one of the other options.
-
You can use any of them. To be on the safe side, use all 3.
-
ImgBurn won't copy protected disc and should not be used to do so. If you're getting a write error, please post the log so we can see where/how it's failing.
-
It knows to create a bin/cue when required, otherwise it defaults to iso - but that can still be changed.
-
Hardly any drives will burn at 1x on media now. They're all geared towards faster burning - hence 8x may actually work better than 4x. If you look in ImgBurn's 'Help' menu you'll see the 'Logs' option and find where they're stored - can't use 'Program Files' because it's locked down and read-only for 'normal' users.
-
Slow the write speed down, use decent media, check for firmware updates.
-
Well, the program scans for pregaps when making an image and those are then taken into account when creating the cue file. They're then recreated (as read from the cue) when you write the image back to a disc.

Long filenames truncated on SA DVD player
LIGHTNING UK! replied to albatros's topic in ImgBurn Support
I believe this has already been pointed out and corrected ready for the next release - which will happen when it happens! -
If you read the box that pops up during the installation of ImgBurn you'll see it just says it'll wipe out the shell extensions of dvd dec - because ImgBurn has it's own and it's kinda pointless having both clogging up your context menus! (They're the menus that pop up when you right click a file)
-
Looks like the booktype stuff worked that time. As for the error, that could be anything really. The drive gave up trying to read the sector - hence the timeout. I'm afraid that's probably what you get for using the cheapo DL discs! Get some Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL ones and see if they're any better (they will be!).
-
Have you only tried 1x (or 6x which is the drive's lowest supported write speed) ? Give it a go at 8x, 12x and 16x. You might find you have more luck. For the disc saying it's incomplete, try using the Tools -> Drive -> Close (Track/Session/Disc) options. AnyDVD doesn't conflict with ImgBurn, it's just that it can modify the data read from the drive during a verify (after a burn) and make 'miscompare' errors pop up.
-
So you're already added 'SONY DVD RW DRU-830A' to the Samsung list? Ok so now check the commands are actually working - can you change the booktype manually and have it say 'success' ? (You'll need to have the blank in the drive obviously) and you've got the 'automatic change booktype' option enabled? and your drive burns + verifies the discs ok without any retries / errors? (a log would be nice!)
-
Unless you're setting the booktype option before every burn, it's not going to be automatic with that drive. You need to add it to the 'Samsung' list on the 'Advanced' page within the booktype options screen.

See, I knew it would work for me! http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...ost&p=54612

Seeing as how it errored out the split second it started to write, I'd have to guess the drive has issues with that media code. I'd dig a disc using that MID out myself, but knowing my luck it would work!

LIGHTNING UK! replied to aruzinsky's topic in ImgBurn Support
You're just about the only person to have ever asked the question, so it's hardly worthy of going in the FAQ! You're also probably 1 in 10000 to actually use packet writing software - everyone knows it's very closely linked to the Devil and to avoid it like the plague.
