  1. I'm amazed it's not working if the booktype functions are saying 'Success' when you try them. The 'next write' one is an old command really so i'd stick with the eeprom settings for whatever media you want to change the booktype on. If it's not working, there's not much any of us can do. Try cross flashing to the real LiteOn version as described in the post above by dontasciime.
  2. All you can do is try some other discs. Maybe you'll have more luck with the -R MCC dye Verbatims or some Taiyo Yudens.

  5. Yup, your drive doesn't like those discs, go with some Verbatim (MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden ones.
  6. ImgBurn isn't an encoding / transcoding program. You either feed it disc images (ISO files etc) in 'Write' mode or you burn the file(s) 'as-is' using 'Build' mode.
  7. lol, I love it So what happened mate... you got married?
  8. You shouldn't need to use any other programs, ImgBurn does all the formatting stuff automatically when you click the 'Write' button.
  9. ISO9660, Joliet and UDF don't even come into it when you're burning an Image. The Image is burnt as-is, so if it was built to include the UDF filesystem, once burnt to a disc it'll contain the UDF filesystem. It's hard to say exactly why your drive couldn't set the layerbreak position, it's either because the drive doesn't really like the discs or it's because there's something fundamentally wrong with your PC. To be honest, I'd go for the second one. Is your drive connects to the proper motherboard chipset IDE port - not any 3rd party one that might also be on the board? I ask this because it's listing the device as 'SCSI' and that's not normal. So you're either on a 3rd party controller or you've got some duff drivers installed that make it look like a SCSI device. Either way, it's not good. Old Via and nVidia IDE drivers were known to cause this issue. You'd do well to update them, or failing that, remove them.
  10. Switch to 'Write' mode and burn it. 'Build' mode BUILDS ISO files from normal files (i.e. word documents, pictures etc) - or it can write those files to disc on the fly. So basically, follow this guide: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=61
  11. 50/50 is said to produce the most 'compatible' disc - so far as reading it back is concerned. Just because a certain cell can be aligned where the split is 50/50, is doesn't mean it'll be the most aesthetically pleasing place to put it. It lists all the options possible just so that YOU have a choice. There's a preview option in the next version and then I'm sure you'll find this way of working much more useful. The padding column is how many blank sectors have to be added in front of the first file in the VIDEO_TS folder in order that everything be lined up as the info says it will be.
  12. It's the dropdown box that's named 'File System' on the 'Options' tab. (It's the first thing you see, not sure how you missed it really?!) I hope it goes without saying that this only applies to 'Build' mode.
  13. Not the whole driver, just the filter driver. It's called SiRemFil.sys Open regedit and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} You should find it listed in either the upperfilters or lowerfilters value. (I can't be sure where exactly - I've already removed it! lol) Remove it and reboot.
  14. Ah well I know what causes it on your board... I have the same one It's the filter driver installed for the 3rd party sata adapter. Remove it and the problem will go away - the sata still works fine btw. There are much newer bios versions now btw.
  15. Your drive doesn't support that +RW. It's seeing it as a DVD-ROM disc and hence won't overwrite the date, nor will it erase it. In any case, ImgBurn will always want a 100% empty disc so whatever's left on it from before will be erased.
  16. Not sure why you joined the ImgBurn forum and then start to talk about Nero?! That aside, if the disc has been finalised, no you can't write to it. In any case, it's a DVD-R, they're cheap enough now to just throw in the bin. It would probably be a good idea to remember not to 'change your mind' mid burn next time.
  17. It was a bug in one of the newer versions but should be fixed in 4.6.2.8.
  18. I'm not sure if it's only the new liteon's that do jitter and afaik, only cdspeed can report it. (well, and liteon's own crappy looking dvdscan program) The new dvdinfopro might do it now too, I've not checked. My LiteON (which I know supports jitter) is the LH-18A1H model.
  19. Time to get the lens cleaner out maybe?
  20. LIGHTNING UK!

    Test

It's the server, not the board so to speak. The security stuff running on it doesn't like certain character combinations.
  21. Indeed, the bit it's erroring out on is where it sets the layerbreak. This is done before and burning starts. The drives aren't stupid, if there's nothing to close then they won't close anything. The trouble is, when you set the LB position, some drives (perhaps all?) will actually write something to the disc. So even if it failed and ImgBurn didn't then try to finish the burn off nicely, the disc would still be useless.
  22. Locking only locks the one drive you're burning to, and only when you're burning. So, I'm not sure why this other program would need access to it anyway. It should just ignore that drive if ImgBurn is burning and has it locked for its exclusive usage and then display the remaining drives. If it doesn't do that, the software needs fixing.
  23. avada, Please don't hijack other peoples threads. Your question is more likely to be answered if you start your own one. You're attempting to overburn and the drive isn't having it. You should have had a warning message to that affect when you started off the burn. So basically, your image (or rather the files you're attempting to burn) is too big for the disc.
  24. A screenshot might help us understand just exactly what it is that you're seeing. If DMA isn't to blame and your cables are working correctly, it must either be major fragmentation on your hdd or either of the two drives are just playing up. Check your CPU usage whilst burning, if it's high, it's DMA for sure.
  25. Nobody said it was impossible, just that you can't set the layerbreak position on DVD-R DL media and that's why you were getting the initial error message that you were. VobBlanker has changed the structure of the IFO's and there are now more options available to you. Anyway, glad you got it sorted in the end. Next time just buy DVD+R DL instead and save yourself a lot of messing around
