The semaphore timeout error is common with USB drives - is yours connected via USB? (Maybe Firewire?) If you're getting it on an IDE drive then something has messed up. It could be your drivers, the cable, the drive itself... who knows. As with most issues, check for firmware updates and try different discs. I've never found DVD+RW to be all that reliable to be honest, although RICOH +RW's were better than the Verbatims. Be sure to give some normal -R / +R discs a go. We recommend Verbatim (MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden.
-
Just incase anyone reading this thread cares, the issue was with a 'fall back' command (Mode Sense (10) -> Mode Sense (6)) that the driver didn't appear to like very much. The next ImgBurn is ok because it doesn't 'fall back' to this command quite so easily!

Regardless of what Windows says about DMA, it's worth following the FAQ and uninstalling the controller + rebooting. When you've done that, try again.
-
You're kidding - right?
-
That was the first (and real) error. Your drive simply failed to burn to the disc.
-
Well, from your log I can see you don't have a DVD burner - so if you're trying to burn a DVD Video disc, clearly it's not going to work. ImgBurn doesn't do any conversion stuff so you won't be able to burn it to CD in VCD/SVCD/DivX format either.
-
If you just updated, you must have already been using some other I/O Interface. SPTI has always required Admin permissions, that's just the way it works under XP. There's a post in the FAQ that might help you overcome the SPTI issue via a little editing of computer policies - all totally harmless of course!
-
It doesn't have to be a video_ts folder, just whatever folder they were already in. Don't worry about the LB stuff either, pick one that's close to 50/50 split between the layers if you only have 'average' ones. If you want, put a screenshot up of the window and we'll tell you what we think. btw, can you please PM me with a good email address to send this special ImgBurn to so you can test with your driver that BSOD's all the time. Thanks.
-
My guess is you added some ifo/bup/vob files yeah? There's a glitch in that code, add the folder instead.

Is Bitsetting Supported By The Asus DRW-1608P2S ?
LIGHTNING UK! replied to scuzzy's topic in ImgBurn Support
Bitsetting doesn't magically make the burns better, it's purely there for drives that see the 'DVD+R' booktype and don't even attempt to read it (because it doesn't know about it). If your drive understands (or doesn't care about) the DVD+R booktype, it really shoudn't be an issue for you. -
Ok so when it's done properly, ImgBurn would have worked anyway without prompting you for the media type. When the drive reports it's a CDROM and that it's not erasable, all I can do is believe it! You might find you've got a program installed that's messing with that info on the fly. There are lots of them out there that make CDR and CDRW look like normal CDROM discs.
-
You can choose where you want DVD-ROM stuff to live when burning a DVD Video disc. The choices are: At the start Mixed in (sorted alphabetically) - default At the end
-
You would need a special version of the program. If you're sure you're ok to do that, I'll get to work on creating it.
-
Assuming it crashes straight away, and without a disc in the drive, if you ensure all other drives are disconnected, ok'ing each command one by one wouldn't actually take long - just as a last resort type thing. I for one am certainly interested to see where it falls over.
-
sorry, i may have edited my last post while you were typing your own. shame the patin couffin thing didn't workout.
-
If it works with vso, try making ImgBurn use that I/O interface instead (the Patin Couffin one). You'll have to change the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ImgBurn\IO_Interface registry entry to '4'. Failing that, the only way to try and see what's causing the BSOD is to force the program to make you click 'ok' to every single I/O command it sends - and you'd have to remember which one you last click ok to before it crashed! lol
-
Oh right, I thought nvidia had their own sata controller, I didn't realise they were using Uli chips, sorry. You can try the 6.2.2.1 driver from http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/408 but that's all I can suggest. I've been using an SATA drive all day on an nForce 4 AMD board without any issues so it's not a general SATA thing.

Do me a favour and locate the m5288.sys file in c:\windows\system32\drivers. Checkout the properties of it and let me know the exact version you're running.
