Simple, don't use anything except Verbatim DVD+R DL media for double layer burning. Getting layer break info from the IFO's is bound to fail - you're not burning a double layer DVD Video disc.

So the drive that wrote the disc can't read it again? That's kinda why 'Verify' is so important. It ejects the disc between burn / verify so as to simulate real world usage. It would have picked up on issues like this. If your burner can't now read the disc and it's the only drive you have, sorry but you're out of luck. Find a friend with a drive that can read it. Oh and as this problem will probably happen again, update your burners firmware and use decent Verbatim (MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden discs.

I too have tested buring with Vista, using an nForce 4 (AMD) motherboard and again on an Intel 975X ICH7 one. There *shouldn't* be any problems but obviously something's not quite right on your PC. I'd still do the firmware update and purchasing of decent discs before I waste too much time on it though if I were you.

With XP and Vista on the same machine.... same drives, same hardware, same discs etc it can only be the drivers. If there's no error shown (and it's stopped burning) it means the I/O call hasn't come back as being successful or that it failed. That's out of my (and any software's) control. You'd do well to update to the 1.04 firmware and start using decent Verbatim (MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden discs though.

Ring dell and tell them it's broken. You will of course have to be sure that it is! Try buring to at least 4 different media - with different media ID's. If they won't do anything about it, you'll have to buy an external drive. Or rather any old USB case (Icy Box for instance) and a normal drive.

I believe you can use VobBlanker to split a cell. I expect your DVD Video files almost fill a DL disc so applying padding etc to get the correct alignement might be hard. Load your folder as normal and then before you click 'build', press F6. As it tests for potential LB positions, it'll add some additional log entries. look at them and you should be able to see roughly where it might be possible to split the cell and make a proper layer break. You could also post the log and we'll take a look too.

One hdd to another hdd should be a lot faster than going to the same one. How is the other one connected? Via USB 1.0 or something? Are all your drives SATA?

Just totally uninstall AVG, reboot a few times, download the very latest version, update the defs / program and then reinstall ImgBurn. If it really doesn't prompt you when it deletes random files... well... that's very lame.

It is as it says, that image cannot be burnt onto the OTP DL discs we buy. You need to rebuild it using 'Build' mode so the correct padding etc gets added. btw, the BenQ test mode feature is handled by ImgBurn. As it says 'test mode: no' in the log, test mode is NOT enabled - not even when you think it is via qsuite. You'd have gotten to prompt to that affect when you clicked on the 'write' button.

The firmware version is displayed in the info box on the right db. and I believe what you're referring to is a 'tooltip' or 'hint' window?!

Is Scenarist actually making the ISO image? It seems to me as if you're using the LB it provides and then using ImgBurn in build mode to burn the IFO/VOB/BUP files. Build mode makes Scenarist's LB value totally useless as it's down to me where I add padding or don't! You could only use its LB value if it makes the ISO image and you then just burn that in ImgBurn's Write mode. As for the differences between Scenarist ISO files and PgcEdit ones, well that's all down to the filesystem formatting tool. Scenarist will use its own one, PgcEdit uses mkisofs. The images will be different on a 'byte' level but content / end user wise they're be the same. That shows your layerbreak. It's at LBA 2027968.That's the PHYSICAL layer break - remember the LB is a physical thing. The IFO files however are set so the cell at LBA 2027952 should be the very first thing on Layer 1. Of course the two do not match so some players would probably fall over and die at the LB point. You're lucky yours doesn't. So in future, forget about the LB mentioned by Scenarist unless Scenarist is/has made the actual ISO file. Also, make sure you put that setting in ImgBurn back on 'Calculate Optimal'.

You'd be ok with optical drives on that card, it supports them - it uses the Silicon Image 680 chipset I mentioned in my previous post. Up until a few days ago I had one in my machine too - It has now been replaced by the ITE one as that works better for me. I do defen, I was ignoring the hdd/dvdrw part as that's not really important. My box (well, one of them) has 4 10k scsi drives, 4 7.2k sata drives and 6 dvdrw!

What I was getting at was this: Your drive only thinks it's 4x media. You are of course free to set the 'write speed' to whatever you like, the drive will still only burn at 4x though. Out of interest, what chipset is on that pci ide card? Silicon Image 680, ITE8212 or something else?!
