  1. Yup, still is...... :'( ...and I retire in 4 1/2 years......doom on me...doom on me....... :(

<self pitying rant mode off >

but by then you will probably have alzeihmers, and will have forgoton all about it :P

  2. never been in the HOLE in my life Lfc  . had a go in the state PEN though ( she was a nice girl really) , and never been in CLINK ( always cleaned them off first ) , did consider doing PORRIDGE , but that sounded a bit to kinky for my likeing

  3. She's just a plain good looking country gal who can out cuss, out chew, out shoot, out drink and out ride me, in fact you'd probably call here a redneck seeing as you are a confirmed West coaster...... =))

in the American sense or the Brit Lager lout sense

  4. I tried 3 different DVD+R's that we have in the office.

The first attempt was on a Memorex label,

    I 14:48:14 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R03-04) (Speeds: 2x, 2.4x)

the second on an Office Depot label,

    I 14:55:54 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R03-04) (Speeds: 2x, 2.4x)

the third and successful one was on a Phillips label.

    I 15:02:28 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: CMC MAG-R01-00) (Speeds: 2x, 2.4x)

The Memorex and the Office Depot discs are one and the same, as they both have the same dye/ink ( highlighted above)

suprisingly, the only 1 that worked for you , the Philps one, has CMC-MAG dye/ink, which is probably the worst dye you can get . be warned that this disc may become unreadable in the very near future, because the dye disintigrates very quickly ! ( this is due to the poor quality of the dye they use . so watch you dont lose any data back ups you make on these)

recomendations for good media are verbatim and Taiyo yuden . but do look thru the drives and media forum to see whats been tested and is any good , Drives and Medis forum link

Burning an image isnt much mroe differant than burning Data. its more a case of finding the best discs you can that your writer will recognise and write to .

often updating to the latest firmware for the writer will increase the amount of discs that the burner will recognise and write on to.

  5. I realize the image cant grow, but I had clone set to 4500MB when I used it, and here's how imgburn looked, and where I got the readings from:

    Disc Information:

    Status: Complete

    Erasable: No

    Sessions: 1

    Sectors: 2,278,714

    Size: 4,666,806,272 bytesTime: 506:24:64 (MM:SS:FF)

    Supported Write Speeds: 3.1x

bytes isnt a case of dividing by 1000 to get Megabytes .

a 4.35gb( according to file properties in windoze ) iso ( from dvdshrink) is actually 4,681,396,224 bytes.

wait for the guvner to explain simply why this is , but your 4500mb file isnt the same as 4,500,000 bytes so it has not "grown" in size ...........sorry

dont know about clone, but set your overall file size to 4350-4464mb with shrink , as if you go larger, you risk burning to near to the edge of the disc, and with low quality media it affects playback

  6. I just went out and bought a new batch of Verbatim DVD+Rs and tried burning a DVD but I've tried 5 different DVDs and I get the same errors. There MUST be something wrong with the burner since I had the exact same problem with an entire box of Fuji DVDs a couple months back. Is it even possible to have 2 ENTIRE 50 packs of DVDs from two seperate companies have the same problems?

Yes , if its the same dye used on both brands .Could be your writer doesnt have a firmware write strategy that can handle these discs/dye

have you tried any other discs off friends , just to eliminate the dye on the discs you have already used ?

ANyone know if the drive in an HP 5070us laptop is replaceable? Someone told me it's not.

most laptop drives are replaceable, BUT usually at a crazy price .

if your considering changing , it would work cheaper to buy an external writer ( providing you have USB2.0 or Firewire)

    Shamus , whats a "Hoon" ? :o

  7. you probably wont hear from lfc tonight , his 2nd rate "team" came back from 2-0 down to win the cup final !!!

    UK definition of Football = a game with a stadium , 22 players , 1 ball, and 50,000 referees

  8. Thanks LFC, i didn't know that. I've just set ZoneAlarm to allow animations, I'm now mesmerised by your rotating Avatar.... :)

! ! ! , thats perverted  , i could understand if it was a good looking woman , but not a football club logo

  9. after reading sonys claims carefully in the first post, ive drawn the conclusion that .

    yes, PS3 exists,

it IS better than anything youve ever seen before

of coarse you wont be able to buiy one in the Uk in time for xmas ( just like other PS releases) despite

what we said about having 2 million units available for world release launch date.unless you pay a bonafide distributors extortionate costs ( becaus ethye had to airlift 10,000 in from round the world to meet demand

tehres 2 models so when your cheaper one screws up, we can blag you into parting with more cash for the better model .

sorry Sony, but been there and done that before .........THREE TIMES !!!!! , PS1 and PS2 and PSTwo ,

NOT falling for it again ;)

  10. your all stalking Corny .he could even turn into a cereal killer at this rate , LFC come and Bale him out of this .i hope no one crops or edits this thread

if this doesnt display properly and its a bit grained, its because

there was as error at kernel 220xxx300

its easier to read if you just cut and paste the log

theres a firmware update for your drive , it on B7W9 now

the media is showing mixed results, some even described as the same as you got , see HERE

given it plays fine on your PC but NOT your tv player, i would guess its a media problem, or your standalone player just doesnt like these discs

  12. Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The movie i am copying is Harry Potter1 (I own the movie and want to copy into a new disk as it has started to give problems). This movie plays almost weekly at our place.

You might want to try a dedicated backup forum for a proper answer as legal contraints prohibit us from telling you how to accomplish what you wish to do. Yeah..... it sucks but that's life.

regardless of if you own the disc or not , as mentioned by Shamus and Kenadjian , we can do no more to help you , sorry

  13. yea, the post icon is a smilie saying the letter "o" ,whereas the :o one is a photo of a smilie getting unexpectedly shafted, and  is a photo of one being shafted and having a tight fit :w00t:

Fortunately, heres a side on pic of the same scene hump.gif

  14. Also, has anyone ever noticed the slight difference between this Smilie: :o and the one used for the Post Icon?

yea, the post icon is a smilie saying the letter "o" , whereas the :o one is a photo of a smilie getting unexpectedly shafted, and  is a photo of one being shafted and having a tight fit :w00t:
