  1. the benefit of creating an ISO is that ImgBurn can burn it for you, and we can *try* and help you if you have problems, however, if you want to burn VOB's then you will have to use other burning software instead ;) .

  2. in Europe ritek G04's ( metallic purple tops and purple/lilac dye ) was the mutz nutz for ages at 4x writing, they they came out with G05's to match the newly released 8x capable writers .

from that point onwards ritek went tits up with there consistency, i was getting 10+ coasters from 25 packs of G05's .and several panasonic players wouldnt recognise them at all .

i went onto taiyo yuden TYG02 and lose about 1 in 100 from a spindle now . at that time it was very hard to get genuine TY's here .

since then TYG03 have been released, but these seem to be slightly less consistent from posts on here and other places.

my recomendation would be taiyo Yuden 8x -r TYG02 , regardless of if you have a 16x writer .

taiyos seem to be the most compatable diss with more players than any other brand as well ( findings was from a forum that is no longer with us :o )

the down side is that they are much more dearer than all other brands ( specially in the EU ) , but you are getting reliable media

  3. i missed this one, so HAPPY BIRHDAY :happybday: Blu .

ahh, news just in .......... 6 months after the ashes , Australia finally manage's a 50 not out

edit . just noticed a spelling mistake , but then , it wouldnt be from me if i corrected it

  4. Sounds a lot like a wombat really - eats roots and leaves.

or a panda , eats shoots and leaves

or as ulrika johnsson ( a uk weather girl) once said on air. "we can all look forward to a good 8 inches tonight" :whistling: you speak for yourself lady !

  5. To give another example, I had a yellow TY disk containing 4.3GB video file, which I was trying to copy (for a friend) to a new disk (picture of the new disk is below) and I got a message that there is not enough space and that copy cannot proceed

the disc in the picture is a RW ( re-writable) one, these hold slightly less data than a normal -R disc .

if the original -R disc was full, then the RW wont be big enough to hold the same amount of data

  6. when you followed cornys suggestion with ImgBurn , when it took you to the firmware page, what did it ACTUALLY say for the make and model of drive ?

  7. also to open an ISO in shrink , FILE button >open disc image ( on sub menu)

you have ISO' s associated with winrar in winrars settings , simply go to winrar, and remove iso as a file association .

in winrar OPTIONS>SETTINGS>INTEGRATION and UNcheck the box next to ISO and Ok it

as for write speed with dual layer discs, it really depends on what speed your burner can write to D/L at .

whats the exact make and model of it, or what speed does the manual say it will wite to D/L at ?

  8. mcspider

you mentioned -r in the first post , depending on your burner you may only be able to write -r and not +r.

likewise, depending on your burner, you may not be able to write dual layer discs with it anyway, so check this out before you buy any dual layer discs ( there not cheap ;) )

if your drive will only write to -r the -r taiyo yuden 8x are equally as good as the +r ones Polopony mentioned for dv5 work. they are the only ones i use .

  9. why do so many people like to see a striker firing off a few shots on target ?

i see rooney has stopped going to that prostitutes then

looks like a good publicity shot for vodaphone's new dictaphone then
