-
when's 1.4 being released?
just before v 1.5
-
yep, exactly as above
-
Kenadjian was reffering to the CMC discs your last log was showing
-
UNfortunately, we cant/dont/wont discuss any form of backing up/ripping discs. this is due to legal reasons since the demise of DVDD. sorry
-
WHO OOO , HAPPY BIRTHDAY Guvner dont get to tonight
-
Unfortunately, we are NOT able to help you to put a movie dvd onto your hdd, or even discuss how to do it . sorry. this si due to legal reasons , as it would involve circumventing copy protection and ImgBurn is only capable of burning Images .
from the point of putting an image/iso onto blank media we CAN help you, but everything leading up to that is taboo in this forum , again, sorry
-
i suggested the 6x , as this is also supported with the media your using in the last lot of ImgBurn logs
-
is the drive connected by USB or USB 2.0 ?
running thru firewire ( slightly slower than USB2.0 ) from a laptop to an external drive i can acheive 8x max regularly, HOWEVER , due to a laptops hdd being a lot slower than a normal desktop set up ( as mentioned previously by the Guvner) , the average write rate drops down to around 5x .
my suggestion would be to write at 6 x and see what differance that makes for you

ImgBurn will only burn images/isos to a blank disc.
you ned to convert the VIDEO_TS foller to an ISO, then you will be able to burn the ISO with ImgBurn.
VOB's and IFO's are DVD file components, and what you are going to do is to make them into 1 large file so ImgBurn can write this to a blank disc.
theres a few programs about that wil do this for you, dvdshrink and Image Tool classic are 2 that spring to mind

so FF isnt "For Fooksake" then ?
-
Here's a better idea - use them for backup up huge amounts of data from your hard drive. Computer drives don't seem to have a problem with layer switching when handling data files, at least for me. That's what I did with some Ritek Ridata discs...
good sugegstion

Killjoy, your correct , the question was originally
"are there any plans to put creating ISO image functionality back into ImgBurn "
but then it wandered off track with this request
" If it won't ever support ISO creation. Could you recomend a good program that will, even if I need to use it in combination with Any***, etc?"
several issues could come of possible answers to this, hence the polite reminder to anyone reading this thread.
-
lets also remember that "discussing" the ability to rip was part of the demise of DVDDec
we CAN'T / WONT discuss ripping in any way in here , sorry
-
can you post a log file from ImgBurn as well please , this will reveal more info to us that will help you in turn,
also do you have neros packet writer software installed on the PC ( InCD i think its called)? or AnyDVD
-
but then shrink CAN do it
-
a sits happening with otehr burning progs as well, sounds like either poor quality media, a tired standalone player , or (hopefully not) a dodgy burner .
please let us know the updates and if you resolve the matter , good luck

as MJ has eddited his first reply, i dont know what he said, HOWEVER , just in case, can i remind everyone that i didnt write it, i only received it, and think this may be the latest of its type to do the rounds .and that was the only reason i posted it for all to see, so when a non computer savvy person saysto you they got this strange email , you can allay there fears that the last line in it is total bollox .
my personal opinions are like the vast majority of the world, it was terrorism at its worst
the thread wasnet meant to upset or offend anyone, please dont interpret it that way

this isnt a forum where we dictate to people or talk down to them , as most of us knew very little once over about dvd. ( and some of us still dont )
its purely a help/support place. hence most replies are based on members experiences, especially when it comes to media and brands and dyes.
what has appeare in ehre and the previous place was the unsuitability of ritek dual layer media, which most times was rectified by changing to verbatim , which is probably why most of the replies are suggesting to change over .

here is the contents of an email i got today , it seems to be doing the rounds, you may of already had it yourself ?
BEAR IN MIND , i didnt write it ( especially the last line , i only kept it in so you can see why its doing the rounds right now).
Interesting one is the MS word part .
1) New York City has 11 letters
2) Afghanistan has 11 letters.
3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin
Towers in 1993) has 11 letters.
4) George W Bush has 11 letters.
This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting:
1) New York is the 11th state.
2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number
11.
3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11
4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers.
6+5 = 11
5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 =
11
6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number
911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11.
Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:
1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes
was
254. 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.
2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4
= 11.
3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11.
4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers
incident.
Now this is where things get totally eerie:
The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is
the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic
holy book:
"For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle.
The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo,
while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for
the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was
peace."
That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran.
Still unconvinced about all of this..?! Try
this and see how you feel
afterwards, it made my hair stand on end:
Open Microsoft Word and do the following:
1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first
plane to hit one of the Twin Towers.
2. Highlight the Q33 NY.
3. Change the font size to 48.
4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS
What do you think now?!!
REPOST THIS OR SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN TO U IN 11 MINUTES!!!

in trying to find out about HP firmware updates , ive found this HERE
there site is a bit confusing, as they want to know what O/S you use, and they dont list windows media edition , which your log reports your using.
your firmware version is I 11:25:40 Device: [2:0:0] HP DVD Writer 740b HI24 (E:) (ATA)
and the version for Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro is hpdvd740b_HJ24.exe
it "may" be a case of HJ is a newer version than the HI that your using currently , maybe a call to HP support will confirm this. and a newer firmware version "could" sort the problem out .
i will also confirm that cmc based media is very poor , always has been
in addition , toshiba players used to be susceptible to disc compatabilty issues, especially the older ones that only did +R format .
what model of toshiba is it , and have you googled it for the specs on what it will play ?

a log file would help us here

i hope kenadjian counted his fingers while he was pissing ? at least he gets an extra friend that way
whats wrong with Rumsfeld anyway ? just cause he is the instigater of "friendly fire" cant make him all bad ............can it ?
is this the same company that recently bought the UK based P&O cruise line ? probably the most famous current British shipping concern for some 450 million $US
P&O was a global concern ( and still is) with cruise liners and container shipping , ports ,road transport.
a quick google shows it IS the same company

got a feeling that Accessability and options is an option when installing windoze the first time
Not enough space on mini dvd-r?
in ImgBurn Support
Posted
its the blank disc thats to small !! look at the bit i made bold above . bottom line is the image is to big for the blank media . the iso "specifically made for mini dv" is to large im afraid .
although most 8cm dvd's are listed as 1.4gb , they dont actually hold 1.4gb , in a similar way that DV5 discs are not 5gb or 4.7gb, only hold 4.35gb
it could be that your writer does not like these size of discs, and doesnt read them properly , which is why it reports to IB they are 1.139MB .
you could shrink the iso smaller so its less than 1139mb and see if it burns ok then
check your writer manufacturers web site for any info regarding your drive and 8cm discs in case of problems or known issues when using them as well
