yep IMGburn will stay at the selected speed BUT the drive has to have a firmware that will support writing at the selected speed and the media has to support the speed also if any of these dont apply then it will revert to a speed thats supported automatically ,hope this makes sense

it can still be media ,because the media works with other drives is not a guarantee that it will work with the laptop drive ,and if the laptopis new you cant rule out that it can be a bad drive unless you want to pull the drive fron the laptop and put it in a pc and check that way . BTW what media are you using or more important what dye ?

what you have as I see it is a combo DVD rom/CD burner .It reads all sorts of things but under the write capabilities it only burns CD's and not DVD's .

CMC MAG can retreive all data burned to their discs but then they have to kill you so the secret doesn't get out

In shrink open both files go to reauthor and drag the first lot of files or movie click on start end and click ok then do the same with the second file then do back up. might not be word perfect worked puting two seperate dvd's onto one close enough you do have to make the files into an ISO first then drag and drop them to the new dvd area

for legal reasons we dont discuss ripping DVD's . IMGburn only burns ISO files and does not read anything .For creating ISO files you might want to use GOOGLE

use MEMOREX you must be mad especially if its CMC MAG dye .Memorex makes some of the worst shit there is .Use Verbatim with MCC dye or Taiyo Yuden discs and you wont have any issues with media .Try reading those Memorex you burned to a while ago and see what happens ,they have a bad rep for becoming unreadable over time
