Posting a log will give us a little more information about your setup, what kind of discs you are trying to use and what firmware you are currently using on your drive. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters/hp-dvd740e/1336 As you can see your drive should be able to handle DVD+R DL media up to 8X.

  5. A scanning drive will allow you to do a quality scan of your discs after you've burned them to see how well they were burned and give an indication of the quality of the discs in general.
  6. Yes, I think it's the discs. You aren't the only one using discs with the Ritek dye in them that have been pointed towards using Verbatim.
  7. The good news it excellent burners can be had in the $30-$40 range nowadays...Pioneer 115D for instance from the Egg.
  8. I too have a door that I leave open when ever I'm on the PC or when I'm burning anything.

  10. Doesn't matter where the files are, Imgburn still won't convert them....*hint: It's a burning application.

  19. The link doesn't really give any specs...just features. How is it connected, USB? I don't see why it wouldn't work with Imgburn.
  20. Shoddy media...you'll do yourself a favor to only buy Verbatim for DL burning.
