The betas are fairly tame now a days....
-
I'll second the notion of obtaining a new drive.
-
Whilst in build mode, you can switch to the Device tab and you should be given the properties of the disc in the drive...such as whether or not it is blank. You can also access the disc info in Discovery mode, Read mode and Write mode.
-
Put a blank disc in the drive in "discovery" mode and copy/paste all the info from the right window here.

Well said spinner.
Truth be known almost all of the suggestions you have made have been discussed before and haven't been implemented yet. Not sure if combining with DVDInfoPro has or not, but then you have an issue with two developers...one offereing freeware and another making a financial gain. If the two programs were to unite I would look for the days of a free burner ending. It's really not hard to click the "i" icon to allow Imgburn to open DVDInfoPro for you with all the information right there.
As for the buffer, you can change your buffer around in Imgburns settings if you are unhappy with the default settings....Tools>Settings>I/O tab
The settings and features can be found here:

What's wrong with the way it works now?
-
do you really want a program that looks and acts more like Nero and a slew of other worthless programs out there and is maybe 5x larger in size than ImgBurn?
Not I said me

I've read this one is a bitch to backup so I'd bet your problem is due to CP....but you'll obviously need to look elsewhere for that type of help.

Look for it xmas morning....under your tree

it's alright

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompa...e=2&bop=And
You'll spend twice as much at a local B&M and Newegg usually has it on your doorstep within two days. If you really can't wait you should be able to find Lite-On, LG and Pioneer locally.

TBH your drive could probably use replacing. You could spend $15-$20 and try a tub of Verbatims or you could spend $25-$35 on a new burner and probably use the discs you already have. As for format, I prefer +R but everyone is different for different reasons and we only recommend Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden.

no matter which disc brand i would try.
What brands have you tried?
1) abit nf7 nforce1 with sil 3112 chipset and via 6421A SATA pci card (tested on both), win xp sp3So you've tried using an available port on both mobo and card?
EDIT: Are you using the same sata cable through all the different configs?
-
Do the Verbatims skip, pause and freeze on you?....or is it all brands?

(Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66)
Use better media...such as Verbatim only
-
Is the cable good? Have you tried a different cable?

You'll continue to create coaster if you keep using those shitty discs...we recommend Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden for SL projects.

I don't know of anything that isn't copy protected these days except the air that I breathe and I've heard there is some legislation in congress to tax that early next year.
And if congress doesn't get you, $ly$oft with their not so lifetime not-so-free updates, will!
Regards
I hear ya, haven't relied on them for years though so I'm good.

SONY DVD RW DRU-840A SS00
Update the firmware for your burner and get some decent discs...we only recommend Verbatim for DL projects.

I've also got a 7200S and a "215D". Don't be put off by the 216 you have, it's probably just a bad drive and I wouldn't hesitate to try another. The iHAS Litey's are looking like good drives too. Also my Samsung 203B has served me well, but I'd look for a newer drive from them as opposed to the 202N that you listed.
