  1. Honestly? Get some more HD space. 30gigs might have been enough in past years but not these days. Particularly when you start playing with anything involving video. Before running out and buying an external HD, have a look at other options available to you of which there are many. There's the obvious one of adding another large internal HD and other not-so-obvious ways of increasing your HD real estate such as using network drives, adding high-speed/high-capacity RAID cards and/or drives or even using cheap (very cheap, high capacity) NAS units. (Network Attached Storage). There are people here that can help you with all of these options if you but ask.
  2. No. Assuming you mean non-copyrighted works, you'll first need to convert your MPEG/AVI to DVD format and then convert the resulting files to an ISO image to be burned with ImgBurn. For converting mpeg/avi to DVD grab "VSO DIVXtoDVD" (make sure you download the OLD free version) - http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=vso_DivXtoDVD For converting DVD files to an ISO image you'll need ImgTool (make sure you download the CLASSIC version) - http://www.coujo.de
  3. You can get around the Administrative problem by using the ElbyCDIO device instead of SPTI in the ImgBurn configs. The easiest way to install the ElbyCDIO driver is to first install the demo version of CloneDVD and then rebooting. Find it here: http://www.elby.de/products/clone_dvd/index.html
  4. Convert the files and folders to an ISO image using DVD Shrink ( http://www.dvdshrink.org/ ) or ImgTool Classic ( http://www.coujo.de )
  5. 2 options: 1. Point DVD Shrink at the VIDEO_TS folder and have it create an ISO for you. 2. Download ImgTool "Classic" (not ImgTool Burn) and point it at the folder containing your VIDEO_TS folder. It will create an ISO for you and then pass the "burn" command to ImgBurn automatically. Download ImgTool at http://www.coujo.de
  6. Do? They don't have to "do" anything with it. No doubt their experts have trawled through the code to DVDD in an attempt to create something that it won't circumvent. As for never being buried, I said the same thing about the Amiga before it keeled over and dissapeared into history. DVD Decrypter will remain on the peer-to-peer networks for as long as it is useful to somebody. Sooner or later it, like many other great programs over the years, will also fade into obscurity. <Philosophical mode off>
  7. It made the news headlines here. Hail so thick it's like snow.
  8. This was snapped from my front door about 30 minutes ago. (3:30pm my time). I'll just post the link as the file is about 800k. http://users.tpg.com.au/adsldxhe/pic.jpg
  9. None of us are privy as to why certain elements of DVD Decrypter (like IFO mode) can't be incorporated into ImgBurn. I've never asked - nor will I ask. I, like many of the "old hands" around here simply accept it and leave it at that. EDIT: if you need to burn multiple copies of DVDs (for whatever reason), it'd be easier just to build an ISO with something like ImgTool ( http://www.coujo.de ) and use the soon-to-be-released new public version of ImgBurn with it's queue and copy features to burn as many as you like. 2nd EDIT: I've made you a picture. Huh? Both ImgBurn and the now defunct DVD Decrypter can both burn CDs. Standard data CDs anyway like Linux ISOs. If you mean copy protected music CDs, you're out of luck.
  10. http://seacoastonline.com/news/special/11_27special1.htm New shop's use of live models draws mixed reaction By Associated Press AUGUSTA, Maine - It's downtown Augusta's latest attraction: three young women clad in lingerie who wave to passersby from a store window. The attention-grabbing models were hired by Spellbound, a lingerie store that recently opened on Water Street and is trying to establish its name. The reaction from the public and neighboring business has been mixed. Police have received complaints, and the owner of a business across the road says the women are driving away customers, especially shoppers with children. "It's tainting the wholesome businesses down here," said Carrie Rossignol, co-owner of Video Game Exchange. "I think it's selfish, and I think it's morally reprehensible." Others suggest that the women, who have graced Spellbound's storefront a few days a week since September, bring life and beauty to an often colorless street. "It's like a New York thing. It's urban. It's edgy," said Stacy Gervais, owner of Stacy's Hallmark Store and a founder of a downtown merchants group. "We need a shtick _ something that we do that attracts people and gets us remembered." Spellbound's owner, former Cony High School teacher Felicia Stockford, said she came up with the idea while brainstorming for an inexpensive marketing idea. "I thought, 'You know, that's a big window, and if I put girls in there to wave at traffic, it would draw a lot of attention.'" Paid only in lingerie, the women said they volunteer because they love being seen. "I enjoy it," said Tara Manns, 20. "I enjoy the looks I get." "It's good to get attention once and a while," said Amanda Richards, 21. Accompanied by Jesyka Clark, 18, Manns and Richards stood, kneeled or reclined in the window Friday, flirtatiously cooing and waving at drivers stopped at a red light. "They're exhibitionists," said Stockford, noting that's she's had no trouble finding models for the window. Stockford said the models do not show private parts that would break the law and she forbids the women from striking overly suggestive poses. Police officers have visited the store in response to complaints, but have found nothing illegal, said Lt. Peter Couture. He said there are no state or city laws that prohibit wearing lingerie in public. Information from: Kennebec Journal, http://www.kjonline.com/
  11. The photographs prove nothing! I was framed! Framed, I tell ye! *cough*
  12. They also give up their right to privacy too easily. The stores that require a name and address for "warranty purposes" are the ones that get up my nose. My receipt is my warranty. Case closed. Far too much information is being handed out for no reason. I.... will stop before this turns into a fully-fledged dummy spit.
  13. Your burner (and any other DVD drives) should be set to your region. If you're not sure what region you're in, the little map in the link below can help. http://www.laserrot.com/info/lrinfo/dvdmap.html If you don't set your drive's region, it's possible that another application (like PowerDVD) will set the region of the drive without your knowledge, possibly the wrong region.
  14. Pop the disk out of the drive using a paper clip or thick needle pushed into the small hole on the front of the drive and put the drive back into your PC. Your computer may be getting stuck trying to read a stuffed (fooked) disk. EDIT: I found you a picture.
  15. http://www.thevoiceofreason.com/2005/11/De...nnequinRape.htm The period beginning on the Monday before Thanksgiving* up until Christmas, is the peak time for a little reported incidence of mannequin rape, according to disturbing figures that have come into our possession. The attacks, where store mannequins are sexually assaulted, sometimes in the store in front of other shoppers, hit a peak in 2004 with over 4,000 suspected incidents. That number is expected to grow again this year. The combination of mild winters, and increasingly sexy mannequins are to blame for the increase in what is widely regarded as a significantly underreported crime. Mannequin rape may have gone unnoticed for many years as it had been miss-reported under other offenses, such as 'mannequin theft', 'temporarily missing mannequin' or 'unauthorized mannequin moving'. In the case of 'mannequin moving', most stores do not regard it as a police reportable offense if the mannequin is moved less than 3 inches. A store security guard told this web site: "85% of mannequin rapes occur when a mannequin, which is on display near a changing room, is taken into the said changing room and then attacked." 23 November 2005 *Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November.
  16. Having the same sort of problems with an Athlon3200. I'm sure the problem is related to the PCI Express (SIL? or whatever the hell it is) video card Thought it was a RAM problem so I replaced the RAM last week. No change. The rotten prick. I've had nothing but problems with this machine since the day it was built. Random crashes all of the time. (It absolutely hates Warcraft). I feel like drop-kicking the fukcing thing over the back fence. I certainly understand your frustration.
  17. That's just bizzare. Who the hell would want to play a Ring Pirate? Driving a dubious virtual digit into an expectant virtual bunghole doesn't sound like my idea of entertainment.
  18. Sorry for the delay. Been busy. That's a good idea, that is. I went looking through the registry on a few other machines and they have also had this regkey removed. The rotten bastard. Also had a HD die a quick and rather sudden death and a network card that refuses to work on a different pc. I love computers.
  19. That's my guess also. I appreciate your help.
  20. Things are so much clearer now. It still doesn't explain why something would fail for no reason when it's worked previously for ages. I can only guess that something has removed the regkey. ??
  21. Have had to do it to 3 machines now. Why, after being happily networked for months, would this happen? Seems odd to me.
  22. Nope. That ain't it. Had it happen on another machine today for no apparent reason and it runs XP Pro. A shared drive on it worked just fine until this morning then my client pc's tell me there's not enough space on the server. It's got me fukced.
  23. Stupid fukcing OS!! ARGH!! For the last year or so I've had an ordinary PC happily networked to everything else and haven't had any problems. 2 days ago I added a SATA RAID drive for a bit more storage space and fooking windoze said that I can no longer attach to the shared drive on the client side because there isn't sufficient space on the server. WTF?? 600gigs isn't enough? After swearing a great deal, I decided to do some reading and it turns out it's a common problem with Windoze NT4. The fact that I use Windoze 2000 (or NT6, I think), seems to be irrelevant. The solution: create a regkey called "IRPStackSize", then make up a number between 20 and 500 and edit the regkey before rebooting. Damn thing seems to work fine but I'm wondering what "exactly" I've done. Anyone? L_UK?
