  1. http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/men/news...ensive_pie.html A CHEF has baked the world's most expensive pie costing more than ?1,000 a slice, it was revealed today. The traditional steak and mushroom ingredients have been replaced by a ?500 beef fillet, Chinese mushrooms worth more than ?2,000 and truffles. The recipe includes two bottles of 1982 Chateau Mouton Rothschild red wine costing more than ?4,000 and the pie comes topped with gold leaf. The pie cuts into eight slices and the total cost is ?8,195. It is served with Louis Roederer Cristal Rose champagne - costing ?345 a bottle - instead of the traditional pint of real ale. Taste Kevin Berkins, who owns the Fence Gate Inn near Burnley, Lancashire, where the pie was created, said you could really taste the difference. "It started as a bit of silliness and quickly got out of control," he said. "It's a very sophisticated pie. It's like anything else, if you drive a Rolls-Royce, you know you are driving something prestigious." "Not everyone's going to order it but it's good for a special occasion if someone wants to be part of a real eating experience." 2. Oddly enough, I happen to have a pair of these things in your size. No Tweety Bird on them tho.
  3. A damn good example of why Autoplay should be disabled on any PC running windoze.
  4. Odd. *.bin files work just fine. I burnt one the other day. Does this file also fail with other burning s/ware such as Nero?
  5. What's type of file are you trying to burn? What's the file extension? .bin, .cue, .img, .iso, .nrg, etc...?
  6. The defaults work best. That's why they're defaults. If you have a specific question about the settings, ask away.
  7. I can't see it happening. The last thing $ony needs at the moment is another lawsuit as they have their hands full dealing with the DRM software they've hidden on music CDs without anyone knowing about it.. Another class action suit would be rather amusing from a spectators' point of view. Sony should be aware that some of us own more than one console. Am I to be forced to buy 2 copies of a game because they've decided to embed DRM into the PS3? I agree with Dontasciime. Make my day.
  8. Dunno. Never tried it. Effects are apparently similar to LSD. Personally, I prefer beer.
  9. Yeah. They exude a poison from sacs on their back which can kill damn near anything that eats even a small amount of one. What's interesting (to me anyway) that birds such as crows and kookaburras have evolved to the point where many will grab a toad by the leg and flip it over before attacking it as they know there's no poison glands on its underside. Previously, birds that attacked or grabbed a cane toad would be dead before they could fly back into a tree. Evolution in action. Also, you may or may not be aware that the poison from a cane toad is also a powerful narcotic that can produce hallucinations which can last a few minutes, a few hours or (in some cases) longer. Drug users simply squeeze a poison gland on the toads back and rub it onto a normal cigarette.
  10. "Shotgun a tinny" - to drink a can of beer by puncturing a small hole in the side of the can and then shaking it then placing your mouth over the hole. The pressure obviously forces beer out of the can with very little air taken in during consumption. Much like drinking beer through a straw. It's a quick way to get shitfaced. Victa is an actual brand. http://www.victa.com.au/
  11. Almost a million files on this PC. Scary, innit?
  12. What's scary is that I also used Trend Micro's online scanner (HouseCall). It missed them as well. I'm very impressed with BitDefender so far. Honestly? No idea. It's just something I found........ somewhere.............. while doing......... something.
  13. Folder2ISO? http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_so.../folder2iso.cfm
  14. Bloody hell. I've been using AVG for years and have always been happy with it. Never a problem until a few days ago. It started playing up on 2 of my machines so I went looking for an alternative and ended up installing BitDefender. It would seem (from the snapshot below) that AVG isn't as good as I thought it was.
  15. A full logfile would help alot. I have 2 109s here which work just dandy with Taiyo Yuden and Ritek media.
  16. Contrary to advice given by some experts, blank DVDs are not segregated into those that are more compatible with movies and others for "normal" data like .doc files or whatever. What they store is immaterial. Data is data. Disk quality is the only real difference.
  17. Or wait 3 days before you're allowed to continue. *cough*
  18. No idea. The drive didn't die. Windows did. A summer storm hit the other day and I raced inside to yank everything out of the wall. We don't get hurricanes here but the summer storms can be pretty nasty, as evidenced by the trees in my back yard laying 30 degrees above the horizontal instead of standing upright. Anyways, I pulled the plug on everything and went to fire it all up a few hours later and the boot drive had been corrrupted. I'm guessing it was writing a large file at the time it lost power and crashed the drive head.
  19. Tragically, no. Should have it all up and running again in a few days. Decided to take a leap into the 90's and install XP on it. What a bucket of crap. I hate it. Stupid fukcing menus. Stupid hardware wizard. Stupid naming convention for shared drives (shared folders are fine), making me re-map every pc connected to it. What a heap-o-shit. W2k was (and still is) brilliant. Much more intuitive and easier to manage. The start menu is nothing short of tragic. Go to the classic menu and half your options dissapear. What a great way to fuck up an OS. Linux is starting to look mighty good.

  21. Taiyo Yudens are the best IMO. Ritek G04's and Ritek G05's are also very good. Never had a bad burn with either Riteks or Taiyos and none of them have corrupted like CMCs and Princos do.
  22. Sure was. Still makes me laugh like an idiot.
  23. Bloody hell. One of my HDs crapped itself last night. A boot drive of all things. Wouldn't it just give you the shits? Apart from the obvious pain in the arse it causes, the machine itself contains a large common drive, Drive O:, which I use all the time and that I no longer have access to. It also ran my little FTP server, synchronisation software for backups and various other tasks. The rotten bastard. The drive is probably salvageable but not bootable. Sigh.
