illini; The DVD player standard requires that all players manufactured to handle commercial DVD's be able to play the -rom booktype. As Ken and lfc have said, most players will play them all, however I don't believe in buying expensive models, since the technology changes so quickly, so I bookmark them as DVD-Rom and never have a compatibility issue.

Tom; Have you tried to play the disc? I have many fail verify and they play fine. The stand-alone players use a very forgiving system and try to fill in when they catch a miniscule error that computer drives can't allow due to their reliance on your system logic.

I stopped verifying when my burns from external HDD to internal burner started to fail at the verify stage. Once in a while I will burn from 'C' drive and verify just to make sure all looks well, but they all play fine on my stand alones and pc without the verify step....

I dunno either....

Sorry, junk disc materials...Do a Google on that MID if you don't believe me ...Use only Verbatim DataLifePlus or Taiyo Yudens for a good burn on a consistent basis. Your LG drive firmware is probably out of date. Is the drive in a notebook? If so go to their site and see if you can locate a more up-to-date firmware.
