Yes, it should be enough to burn xbox360 games. Make sure the firmware is up to date and please read this: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 Also notice that ImgBurn can't read protected discs, which all x360 games are

Burning slower doesn't necessarily mean a better quality burn, especially with newer burners and 8x media like yours
-
Restart the computer and the drive should be detected. What does ImgBurn show in the Information box when there's a disc in the drive? Also please post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in the Tools menu).
-
Do you have a log showing that? Look in ImgBurn's Help menu.

Try a lens cleaning disc in that drive, as dirty lens could be causing lower quality burns. -

That's why you need to extract the files and run Tsdnwin.exe with the -nocheck parameter... -

To crossflash it you need to: download this firmware use 7-Zip/WinRAR/etc to extract the two files that are inside it run the extracted Tsdnwin.exe with the -nocheck parameter (i.e. use Start->Run or WinKey+R or Command Prompt): Tsdnwin.exe -nocheck load the extracted 200802121823479932_SH-S183L_SB03.BIN firmware file click the Download button and wait reboot the computer when it's finished As for a new burner I've heard Pioneer DVR-215/216 are very good for dual-layer media. -

Seems like a bad burn, as the the drive can't read the disc it has burned. Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. Alternatively, you could get Verbatim 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks and they should work. Also you could crossflash your burner to its real model (Samsung SH-S183L). The last option would be to buy a new burner -
Update your burner's firmware to the latest version (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and then try burning again. Maybe with the updated firmware your burner can do a better job at burning that disc. You could also try burning that disc on other computers (if they also error out then the disc is defective).

Even though this isn't a Ner0 forum, it confirms that the problem isn't with ImgBurn Try burning (with ImgBurn this time ) at 6x or 8x to see if it works. Anyway, you'd have better chances with the 2.4x Verbatim blanks (MKM-001-00 dye)

Please make sure it's indeed AHCI, and if it is, use it. When you boot in AHCI mode install this and then this one. Reboot the computer just to be sure and try ImgBurn again. Also, could you look at your motherboard and see if you can find its model? It's usually printed in the center, between the PCI slots or at the border, and may look like "P5(something)VM" or "MX". -
You can already do that by using a batch file to run ImgBurn and act accordingly based on the returned errorlevels

I think the VIA controller is blocking the firmware update, so you'll have to get the burner working on the ICH7R controller (the onboard one) before you can update the firmware. That or you could use a SATA-to-USB adapter if you have one lying around Does the computer boot normally when you set the onboard controller to ATAPI (isn't it AHCI)? -

What's the brand and model of your motherboard? Use SIW to find out if you're not sure -
That's a DVD-ROM reader, not a DVD burner.
-
Well, it's not very easy, unfortunately. Have you tried extracting the boot image from the CD you've burned? The information shown in the Log window when you extract the boot image should be a pretty good start on how to replace it
-
It's probably easier to find a bootable image that does what you want, so, what do you want to do exactly?

Seems like the motherboard SATA controller is disabled in the BIOS so you should have a look there. //edit I have a motherboard with a VIA SATA controller in RAID mode (can't change it) and it doesn't to update the firmware or change booktype with a Samsung burner, so that's probably why you couldn't update the firmware. -

Try this utility from Samsung and see if it shows all the information (your SATA controller in RAID mode could be blocking the firmware update). -

You may also want to try the other available write speeds. If that still doesn't help then get the 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Verbatim blanks. -
Apart from crappy media, all seems good

What does ImgBurn say in the Log window (which you shouldn't have closed )? Copy and paste it here so that we can see it too

DVD readable in drive, but not in DVD player
mmalves replied to Stefan1971HH's topic in ImgBurn Support
There's newer firmware available for your burner (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished). Try again using ISO9660 + Joliet filesystems and it should work By the way, when you say discs burned with Ner0 work, it might be because Ner0 could be converting them to DVD-Video format (the format that all standalone DVD players understand). You can do it this way by using DVD Flick or ConvertXtoDVD. -
No, since ImgBurn doesn't convert anything. Try DVD Flick or ConvertXtoDVD.
