The disc burned by your friend is booktyped to DVD-ROM, and it also uses a different dye. You could try those Sony blanks with your burner or try your blanks on his burner. Alternatively you could try with DVD-R media (Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blanks are highly recommended).

Can you do a verify operation on a disc that works on your Wii and post the log here?

Post the log with a burn + verify operation. You can find the logs from previous operations in ImgBurn's Help menu.

ImgBurn doesn't change anything, so if there's region coding in your source then it'll be on your disc. If you're using the Build mode to burn your VIDEO_TS folder/DVD-Video files then the source's regional coding is shown in the Log window when you Calculate the image size and/or burn it to disc.

Try burning at 4x. You could try a lens cleaning disc on that burner too. If it doesn't help then try with the 2.4x Verbatim blanks if you can find them.

Even though you're using a desktop, the burner you have is a slim model, slot load type and slim burners in general are rubbish. If you use high quality media with them then it should work fine.

Using standard input build mode, add your VIDEO_TS folder and your PDF file then click the big button. You can also use the advanced input build mode.

If you meant the INSTALLER_UniblueDesktopIcons entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ImgBurn, it's there to tell the installer (current and future versions) what options were used on the last time ImgBurn was installed.

You can get SIW here and it shows your system's USB capabilities in Hardware -> Ports -> USB (you need USB 2.0 support in order to be able to burn DVDs with an external burner).

There is no bloatware and the toolbar is completely optional. All we can say is look at the changelog: if bugs didn't need fixing then there wouldn't be a new version release.

Also your burner seems to be working in PIO mode (Cynthia spotted it in the 2nd post but it seems you overlooked it), so read the 2nd post from the FAQ thread on how to solve that problem too.

Try this firmware update for your burner to see if it works. The problem seems to be that the media you're using is too new for your burner (notice that the firmware update is almost 5 years old). Use SIW to check if your laptop has USB 2.0 support, and if it does, you could get an external non-slim burner for it. Alternatively, you could try finding Taiyo Yuden 8x (TYG02 dye) DVD-R blanks that it probably does support.

Nothing. Also notice that burning at the slowest speed doesn't necessarily result in a better quality burn, especially on a newer burner like yours with 8x rated media (newer burners are better tuned for faster burns).

Sounds like your burner doesn't like the media you're using. Put a burned disc in the drive and copy and paste here all the media information text that ImgBurn shows in its main window.

Put the I/O interface back to SPTI and post the log from when you've burned with Verbatim media (previous logs can be found in ImgBurn's Help menu).

Try verifying with another drive. Try burning with different media (Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs are the best you can get). Or burn the disc on another computer/burner.

ImgBurn uses DirectShow for decoding audio files, so there's some filter on your system that isn't playing nice. Does it hang right away or when it's decoding a particular mp3 file? You could use Graphedit to render your files and find out which filter isn't working, but if you have installed any kind of codec pack then you already know what could be causing this problem.

Post the log from when you burned that disc (look in ImgBurn's Help menu for the previous burns logs).

Doesn't look like you're burning a DVD-Video compliant structure. Have you tried DVD Flick or ConvertXtoDVD?
