Or were you using it while burning? It couldn't keep up with 4x write speed, which is pretty slow.

Either your burner doesn't properly support that disc or that disc is damaged/worn out. Try with a Verbatim DVD+RW disc to see how it turns out. Alternatively you could burn on write once media since they're cheap and much more reliable.

You're confusing disc capacity with file systems, which themselves don't have a disc size limit. Also a disc doesn't need to have only one filesystem. If the source disc you're copying is dual-layer then you'll need a dual-layer blank to burn it.

The slowest speed doesn't necessarily result in a better burn quality, especially on newer burners like the ones you have: they are better tuned for faster speeds. Have you considered that the reading problems you've had could be caused by low quality blanks? By the way there's CL01 for your LG burner.

Please post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in ImgBurn's Tools menu). Do you have Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% installed? Or any other burn/optical storage related programs?

You can use SIW to find out the brand and model of your storage controllers. If you think the problem is somehow caused by the graph data thread you can disable graph generation in ImgBurn's settings.

You didn't verify any of the burns so we don't know if the discs were properly burned or not. Hint: leave Verify enabled, that's why it's there and enabled by default Slim burners are rubbish in general and yours (MATSHITA BD-RE UJ235A) is the brand that takes the crown in the garbage segment, so avoid using it if you can. Now your older burner, the Optiarc AD-7170A is pretty good and the problem you're having could be due to the old firmware the drive has, so update its firmware to the latest version (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try burning at a slower speed, e.g. 6x or 4x. Also this Optiarc burner should do a good job burning the Verbatim blanks.

Your drive did a bad job burning that disc at 4x, so try 2x to see how it turns out. If it doesn't work then burn to write-once media.
