  1. ImgBurn uses whatever the 'GetUserDefaultLCID' API function returns. How that corresponds to the options in the regional settings, I have no idea.
  2. It's not really failing to, it just doesn't.
  3. Your drive is complaining about the media you're using. You haven't provided any useful info - i.e. a log - so we can't help beyond saying that.
  4. Run 'Windows Update' from your start menu, then click 'Check for updates' and see for yourself.
  5. The program knows to format the discs it needs to format, when it needs to format them. That is all taken care of automatically and the default settings work fine - that's why they're default. No BD-R needs formatting before use, be it single, double, triple or quad layer. ImgBurn will only format a BD-R when the option for format without spare areas is disabled - otherwise it's just pointless. By formatting with spare areas, you lose some space on the disc but the drive then activates its 'defect management' and will remap bad sectors found during the burn (it'll burn at half the speed though). If this is your one and only BD-R DL disc, you may want that. It may improve your chances of getting a successful burn. Either way, you just have to hope your drive doesn't mess up.
  6. It's a BD-R so you wouldn't generally format it anyway would you?
  7. Try doing a benchmark with 'hd tune' and capture a screenshot so we can see the graph. Oh and don't forget to do the other things I mentioned too.
  8. What are you doing on your machine during the burn that means your hdd can't supply a measly ~3MB/s to the program? It's taking 20 seconds to refill the 80MB buffer so something is definitely wrong somewhere (it should take 2 or 3). Defrag your hdd and check it for errors. Install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 too.
  9. Some models may automatically change the booktype on DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM but LG drives in general require the appropriate commands to be sent each time. There's no way to make the drive remember the settings - unless you can find a modified firmware somewhere (like over at the MyCE forums maybe).
  10. Erm... I doubt it. You can load ImgBurn up from its desktop/start menu icon. Is the 'Burn To CD' button even still there now you've uninstalled Roxio? Without actually seeing it, I don't really know what you're talking about. Sometimes it's better to stick with what you know. As your friend set you on this path, maybe you should ask him/her to show you what to do!
  11. That said, you *could* stick a paperclip in the tray eject hole and remove it manually. That's not going to help you burn again any quicker of course... you'll still need that new PSU
  12. I didn't mean right now.
  13. Your disc is now useless, throw it in the bin.
  14. The discs might be stamped with Maxell but it's not what's written on the disc that matters, it's the MID/dye... and that's from Ritek. Maxell could put their name on discs from various manufacturers so you might end up with different ones depending on when/where you buy them. It's unlikely to be anything more deep seated. The error codes come directly from the drive and is a result of some issue between the drive, its firmware and the media you've put in it. Do DVDs work in the external or is it having problems with those too?
  15. Just try it again. Your machine probably got stuck processing a command or something.
  16. Your drive is reporting that disc as still being empty - obviously that's not a good sign if it's meant to have just finished burning it! It could be a drive problem (dust/dirt on the laser or a fault) or a simple case of it not liking the 'Ritek' CDs you're using. Try another disc and see if it does the same again.
  17. At a guess, it means your drive did a bad job of burning the disc. Load the program up again, switch to Read mode and copy + paste all the disc info from the box on the right when that disc is in the drive.
  18. That would only work on discs that support direct overwrite (DVD+RW, BD-RE). Other ones would block a write operation to an out of sequence LBA. So basically, no there isn't and there won't ever be That's where defect management would come in on BD media - as mentioned in your other thread.
  19. Update the firmware on your drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Pioneer/BDR-206D/files.html Try the other supported speeds. RITEK don't exactly make the best discs but it was probably just a one off.
  20. There's really only 3 things you *can* do. 1. Clean the drive and hope for the best. 2. Buy some other discs - Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (Victor JVC) 3. Buy another drive.
  21. When it's enabled, the drive verifies as it burns - this basically halves the burn speed. Any failed sectors are then remapped into the 'spare areas' (reserved) part of the disc.
  22. You've burnt 500 'MBIPG101-R05-01' at 6x (which according to the drive isn't even a supported speed - so it's probably 4x or 8x) ? Maybe you got a bad spindle or your drive is dirty - even the latest firmware dates back to 2007 so it's quite possible.
  23. Sorry, were you in contact with 'Frank' before or after reading my post? I just want to know if they're going to fix the 'Medium Not Present' bug really I believe their forum has the latest versions. I've never seen a BD-ROM with physical errors on it so it's unlikely your problem will get 'fixed' by updating software. What you need is a new disc or a different drive with better reading capabilities.
