That 'browse' box is a standard Windows browse box. There's nothing stopping you from navigating to any folder you want to navigate to. Use the breadcrumb bar at the top (where it lists the current location) or use the folders listed on the left. You should see 'Computer' in there somewhere and under that (once you've expanded it via the little arrow) you'll find your drives.

I/O Error (ASC/ASCQ interpretation: L-EC Uncorrectable Error
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Neryn's topic in ImgBurn Support
It's covered here - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=19743 -
Verbatim are fine but you might be better off avoiding the cheaper 'LTH' ones and go for the standard 'HTL' ones instead.
-
What do you mean 'I cannot get back to the previous folder to load any other files.' ? Are you talking about within the browse box? A screenshot would help us understand what you're having trouble with.

There's a 1.03 firmware update available here... http://www.firmwarehq.com/Plextor/PX-LB950UE/files.html If 4x keeps failing (how many times have you tried to burn these discs?), try at 6x instead. Oh and yes, there's something wrong with your drive/firmware/media combo - hence the failures.

A general user permissions problem typically prevents *all* SPTI communication with optical drives. It was a problem in XP but Microsoft opened it up in Vista+ so everyone could use SPTI and programs could talk to optical drives. What we appear to have here is a computer that's rejecting the 'Write' command(s) and nothing more. It could be a 3rd party program running on the PC that's blocking it (like from another burning tool or special corporate lockdown util to prevent people copying/saving data elsewhere). Maybe there's something listed in the filter driver list? Post the info from the feature in the Tools menu. Can you boot into safe mode? If you can, try burning from within that too.

I've no idea. Failures like this show an issue between your drive and the media - it's a hardware thing and software doesn't even come into it. Unless you scan the discs that did actually finish burning, you've no way of knowing how well they burnt. A successful burn and a good quality burn are two very different things.
-
That error is coming from Windows (rather than the drive). It (or something else in the chain) appears to be blocking the 'writes' to the drive/disc. Are you able to burn other media ok? Do you have other software installed that could be interfering with things?

I finally got a reply They've asked for the debug logs, so I need you to do the following... 1. Load ImgBurn 2. Press the F8 key to enable I/O debug mode (you should see that it has been enabled by looking in the log window). 3. Click Tools -> Search for SCSI / ATAPI devices 4. Click Help -> ImgBurn Logs.... 5. Close ImgBurn You should see a couple of files in the logs folder (from step 4) called PTRobot_Trace.log and PTRobot_Debug.log. Please zip them up and attach them in your next post.

Post the log please (as text). Just copy + paste it from the log window. There's an updated firmware available for your drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/NEC/ND-3550A/files.html Even the newer firmware is still 6 years old now... try cleaning the drive (with a cleaning disc) or think about retiring it if it can't burn discs anymore.

I/O Error (started with invalid floating point operation)
LIGHTNING UK! replied to arena's topic in ImgBurn Support
It could be anything at this point... that's why we're troubleshooting If none of the things I've told you to do may any difference, the drive may well have developed a fault. -
Failed to Write Sectors Please Help. Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! replied to soonerchad's topic in ImgBurn Support
Try burning at 4x instead. That's the only reason you'd enable 'OverSpeed' EEPROM/Advanced settings (as normally the only supported speed would be 2.4x) If that doesn't work you could try disabling the 'Online HT' one. Failing that, you may have more luck with the 8x speed Verbatim discs - MKM-003-00 MID/dye. -

You used different discs that time... go back to the original (better) ones. Your drive may also need a clean. Get a cleaning disc if you don't already have one. -

Your drive seems to be having problems burning those discs at 2.4x, try 8x instead. -
It's all in here... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000

We already tell people to use Verbatim double layer discs over all others and that's even more important why trying to overburn them (something they simply weren't ever designed for). http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000

How do I make an ISO file from an exe file, to my hard disk?
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Robert333's topic in ImgBurn Support
You mean you drag+drop the exe to the 'Source' box. Browsing for a 'Destination' file would be picking the location/name of the ISO you wish to create. If it isn't (wasn't) already clear, 'Source' is the 'Input' and 'Destination' is the 'Output'. -
The Semaphore timeout period has expired???
LIGHTNING UK! replied to jdm804413's topic in ImgBurn Support
Not personally, no. I don't have much use for optical drives in USB enclosures these days though and my only USB 3.0 device is just for hdds. I think optical drive sized ones are quite rare. -
The Semaphore timeout period has expired???
LIGHTNING UK! replied to jdm804413's topic in ImgBurn Support
I wonder if going via a powered USB hub would make a difference? Failing that, I assume your new laptop doesn't have an eSATA or you'd already be using it? You could get an (e)SATA ExpressCard and plug it into that... or maybe just another USB one - as the semaphore timeout seems to just be a weird glitch between USB chipsets. -
The drive just had a problem writing to the disc and reported a 'Write Error'. Fingers crossed, the next one you try will be ok. If it keeps failing at 'MAX' speed (4x), try 2x instead.

It was the red 'Maybe I got it' that confused me. It looked like an edit. Your drive may have been having trouble reading that CD-RW disc - thus making it take ages to analyse the tracks and figure out the gaps between them. That would have been clear from the status bar of the main window - but of course it's too late to tell now.

Verify fail when burning single layer (BD-R) media
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Maciej's topic in ImgBurn Support
Nope, nothing has changed. This is purely a drive/firmware/media combo issue. -
The performance issues that SPTD causes aren't limited to ImgBurn. If you can burn and verify at your selected speed without a problem (and without odd drops in the speed graphs), you probably don't need to worry about them - or don't suffer from them anyway. To be honest, I haven't tried the latest SPTD versions to see if the problem still exists.
