It's 4 screws and 2 cables you have to remove from 1 drive and put back in the new one. Did you try changing the settings I mentioned in my first post? There's no trickery going on here. Depending on how a few things are configured, all programs behave the same way - that's because it's the drive that's failing to do something and not anything software related.
-
That's not packet writing.
-
You could keep messing around with things or just invest $20 in a new burner.
-
Packet writing isn't something you'd ever get in a free program and I have no intention of/interest in adding it (nor would I have a clue on where to start). It probably requires low level drivers to deal with everything and you're better off just using what's build into Explorer.
-
It all comes down to the disc info written to the box on the right. If the DVD/BD disc is shown to have multiple tracks, you're currently blocked from using Read mode. Can't you have tmpgenc output to a folder and then burn that in ImgBurn? Failing that, do as it says and add the drive letter of your optical drive to the 'Source' box in ImgBurn's Build mode and make a new 'cleaner' ISO. I've had no experience of multi track DVD/BD discs so that's why they're currently handled the way they are. It might actually be possibly for me to relax Read mode's blocking mechanism for this kind of disc.

There are probably workarounds but your drive shouldn't be having the problems it's having if it was working correctly. Changing the 'Write Type' to 'Incremental' in the settings may work or you could try enabling the 'Perform OPC Before Write' option.
-
ImgBurn doesn't do packet writing - i.e. the live file system thing that Windows 7 supports. If you want that you'll have to buy something like Nero. The Write Type should be left on DAO/SAO unless there's a compelling reason to change it. It's the only one that lets ImgBurn do the things it's supposed to. ImgBurn always closes/finalises when it burns so only use it for complete projects / disc images.

If the power from the cell battery was low enough to somehow cause bits to flip in CMOS data, a checksum failure would occur - and of course that would mean the defaults get loaded and you get prompted at bootup to deal with the issue. So I still can't really see it causing a problem. But anyway, if you say the problem is now fixed then it's all good.

another one... Failed to set Write Parameters!

Why can't you change those advanced settings? The first thing I'd do is take overspeed off. Also, ensure you've done the simple things like *power cycle* the entire machine (not just reboot, actually turn it off and on again). -
It's off because every time you add a file or folder to the little 'Source' box (in Standard input mode) it goes through the entire process of calculating everything (possibly prompting the user several times as it goes). The idea is to do what you've got to do and then check the results if you really think you need to. If you need a rough running calculation of compilation size, use Advanced input mode.

Thanks, I've passed them on to the person dealing with the problem at Primera's end.

I edited my post I was trying to make it easier for you but failed lol

Oh damn, you'll have to enable I/O debug mode via the registry then (when ImgBurn isn't running) so it's enabled when their SDK is initialised as the program loads up. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=59&&do=findComment&comment=972 Run/import the registry file in the above post (#6) and then load ImgBurn. Hopefully you should then get the 2 debug files from the SDK (unrelated to ImgBurn) in the logs folder.

Please re-read my post... that wasn't quite what I asked for You have to click 'More Reply Options' in order to add attachments.

It could be due to dirt/dust/scratches etc. Try doing a full erase on it and then give it another go. If all else fails, use a decent quality 'write once' disc instead.

DVDs play only by opening the VIDEO_TS folder.

It's impossible it say at this point. I'm not a fan of VLC, I'd much rather use 'Media Player Classic - Home Cinema' or some real (licensed) software such as PowerDVD / TMT. The disc has burnt and verifed ok so the data is all present and correct. I'd therefore have to assume it's an issue with your source files or VLC. Make an ISO instead of burning to disc, mount the ISO in a virtual drive and try playing from that. If that works ok, VLC must have a problem with your drive/discs. Drives can produce their best quality burns at any of the supported speeds. There's nothing to say that's going to be at 4x. It could turn out that 4x produces an awful quality burn and 8x is loads better. You'd have to do some quality check scans with a LiteOn drive (or similar) to find out. Cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc may improve things too - especially as this only seems to be a problem with the one drive. -

Install the update firmware for your drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/GH22LP20/files.html Burning at 4x might not produce the best results, try the faster speeds too. It seems to be verifying very slowly... that could because the drive can't read the disc very well or because something about your machine means it just can't go any faster - what do the buffers look like when it's verifying? Ideally, the device one should be empty - because the hdd should be loads faster. -
Ok, for now, delete the cue file and just burn the bin instead. It's probably to do with it waiting for some extra data that isn't ever going to arrive. Changing the buffer to something below 40mb would probably work too.
-
Thanks. Now can you tell me the exact size of the bin file in bytes please. (Right click it and hit properties)
-
Open the cue file in notepad and copy + paste its contents please.
-
I think your drive is just doing a bad job of burning those discs - the slow write speed suggests it's having problems, not to mention the disc still appears blank after the burn has completed! See if you can get some better (Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden) ones instead.
-
Update ImgBurn. Power down your machine and then turn it on again Make sure you use a brand new disc - not one that may or may not have failed before but still looks blank. Then post a new log if it fails again. If you have some different discs (i.e. NOT 'RITEK-F16-01'), try those too.
-
I guess you haven't actually checked for them in the settings.
-
Try using a decent quality DVD-R disc instead. Your drive does not appear to play nicely with 'CMC MAG-W02-00'.

CloneCD isn't capable of overburning double layer discs.
