ImgBurn hangs while starting verification
LIGHTNING UK! replied to thevangris's topic in ImgBurn Support
This happens when a drive doesn't return the subchannel info ImgBurn requests. You should install 2.5.7.0. It won't fix the problem but it gives me additional debug info for it (when enabled). -
Try burning at a faster speed. The drive lists 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x as all being 'supported' speeds. If 2x doesn't work in reality, try one of the others. Service Pack 1 is out for Windows 7.

Please refer to my previous post. Updating wasn't going to fix the issue and I knew that (but it needed doing anyway). Your drive has an issue with the discs you're using.

Unable to Correctly Detect Space Requirements for DL DVD
LIGHTNING UK! replied to rwrider's topic in ImgBurn Bugs
The checks are done using predefined values (sizes of discs). If your drive reports a lower capacity than the predefined values, that could be why you were having the problem. Also note that sometimes it'll tell you the image can fit on a DVD-R disc. That doesn't mean a DVD+R disc will work too - it might not as they come up slightly smaller. -
For starters, update ImgBurn. There's no reason to be using such an old version. 'VERBAT-IMu-000' is LTH media, you may have more luck with the standard HTL stuff. Yes, LTH is probably a bit cheaper but if your drive doesn't really like it (errors out / burns coasters), it's actually infinitely more expensive!

ImgBurn 'No Writers Detected!' Help (VirtualBox)
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Evaur's topic in ImgBurn Support
Well this is a virtualbox issue really and nothing to do with ImgBurn. I can't help because I don't use that program. Don't they have their own forums? Maybe ask on those instead. -
ImgBurn 'No Writers Detected!' Help (VirtualBox)

Is there some option you need to configure in VirtualBox so it allows raw/direct access to your drive? -
ImgBurn 'No Writers Detected!' Help (VirtualBox)

Can you post the log please. -
ImgBurn uses whatever the 'GetUserDefaultLCID' API function returns. How that corresponds to the options in the regional settings, I have no idea.
-
Your drive is complaining about the media you're using. You haven't provided any useful info - i.e. a log - so we can't help beyond saying that.
-
Run 'Windows Update' from your start menu, then click 'Check for updates' and see for yourself.

The program knows to format the discs it needs to format, when it needs to format them. That is all taken care of automatically and the default settings work fine - that's why they're default. No BD-R needs formatting before use, be it single, double, triple or quad layer. ImgBurn will only format a BD-R when the option for format without spare areas is disabled - otherwise it's just pointless. By formatting with spare areas, you lose some space on the disc but the drive then activates its 'defect management' and will remap bad sectors found during the burn (it'll burn at half the speed though). If this is your one and only BD-R DL disc, you may want that. It may improve your chances of getting a successful burn. Either way, you just have to hope your drive doesn't mess up.
-
It's a BD-R so you wouldn't generally format it anyway would you?
-
Try doing a benchmark with 'hd tune' and capture a screenshot so we can see the graph. Oh and don't forget to do the other things I mentioned too.
-
What are you doing on your machine during the burn that means your hdd can't supply a measly ~3MB/s to the program? It's taking 20 seconds to refill the 80MB buffer so something is definitely wrong somewhere (it should take 2 or 3). Defrag your hdd and check it for errors. Install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 too.

Some models may automatically change the booktype on DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM but LG drives in general require the appropriate commands to be sent each time. There's no way to make the drive remember the settings - unless you can find a modified firmware somewhere (like over at the MyCE forums maybe).
-
Erm... I doubt it. You can load ImgBurn up from its desktop/start menu icon. Is the 'Burn To CD' button even still there now you've uninstalled Roxio? Without actually seeing it, I don't really know what you're talking about. Sometimes it's better to stick with what you know. As your friend set you on this path, maybe you should ask him/her to show you what to do!
-
That said, you *could* stick a paperclip in the tray eject hole and remove it manually. That's not going to help you burn again any quicker of course... you'll still need that new PSU
-
I didn't mean right now.
-
Your disc is now useless, throw it in the bin.

Verify Failed! - Reason: Layouts do not match.
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Dave Rado's topic in ImgBurn Support
The discs might be stamped with Maxell but it's not what's written on the disc that matters, it's the MID/dye... and that's from Ritek. Maxell could put their name on discs from various manufacturers so you might end up with different ones depending on when/where you buy them. It's unlikely to be anything more deep seated. The error codes come directly from the drive and is a result of some issue between the drive, its firmware and the media you've put in it. Do DVDs work in the external or is it having problems with those too? -
Just try it again. Your machine probably got stuck processing a command or something.
