  1. I finally got a reply They've asked for the debug logs, so I need you to do the following... 1. Load ImgBurn 2. Press the F8 key to enable I/O debug mode (you should see that it has been enabled by looking in the log window). 3. Click Tools -> Search for SCSI / ATAPI devices 4. Click Help -> ImgBurn Logs.... 5. Close ImgBurn You should see a couple of files in the logs folder (from step 4) called PTRobot_Trace.log and PTRobot_Debug.log. Please zip them up and attach them in your next post.
  2. I thought you'd started using Verbatim discs after your last thread... so why are you back on the cheapo 'RITEK-F16-01' stuff now? Also, I did say to revert to DAO/SAO once you'd started using the decent media. There's a newer version of ImgBurn available now too btw.
  3. Post the log please (as text). Just copy + paste it from the log window. There's an updated firmware available for your drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/NEC/ND-3550A/files.html Even the newer firmware is still 6 years old now... try cleaning the drive (with a cleaning disc) or think about retiring it if it can't burn discs anymore.
  4. It could be anything at this point... that's why we're troubleshooting If none of the things I've told you to do may any difference, the drive may well have developed a fault.
  5. Try burning at 4x instead. That's the only reason you'd enable 'OverSpeed' EEPROM/Advanced settings (as normally the only supported speed would be 2.4x) If that doesn't work you could try disabling the 'Online HT' one. Failing that, you may have more luck with the 8x speed Verbatim discs - MKM-003-00 MID/dye.
  6. You used different discs that time... go back to the original (better) ones. Your drive may also need a clean. Get a cleaning disc if you don't already have one.
  7. Your drive seems to be having problems burning those discs at 2.4x, try 8x instead.
  8. It's all in here... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  9. We already tell people to use Verbatim double layer discs over all others and that's even more important why trying to overburn them (something they simply weren't ever designed for). http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  10. You mean you drag+drop the exe to the 'Source' box. Browsing for a 'Destination' file would be picking the location/name of the ISO you wish to create. If it isn't (wasn't) already clear, 'Source' is the 'Input' and 'Destination' is the 'Output'.
  11. Not personally, no. I don't have much use for optical drives in USB enclosures these days though and my only USB 3.0 device is just for hdds. I think optical drive sized ones are quite rare.
  12. I wonder if going via a powered USB hub would make a difference? Failing that, I assume your new laptop doesn't have an eSATA or you'd already be using it? You could get an (e)SATA ExpressCard and plug it into that... or maybe just another USB one - as the semaphore timeout seems to just be a weird glitch between USB chipsets.
  13. The drive just had a problem writing to the disc and reported a 'Write Error'. Fingers crossed, the next one you try will be ok. If it keeps failing at 'MAX' speed (4x), try 2x instead.
  14. It was the red 'Maybe I got it' that confused me. It looked like an edit. Your drive may have been having trouble reading that CD-RW disc - thus making it take ages to analyse the tracks and figure out the gaps between them. That would have been clear from the status bar of the main window - but of course it's too late to tell now.
  15. Nope, nothing has changed. This is purely a drive/firmware/media combo issue.
  16. The performance issues that SPTD causes aren't limited to ImgBurn. If you can burn and verify at your selected speed without a problem (and without odd drops in the speed graphs), you probably don't need to worry about them - or don't suffer from them anyway. To be honest, I haven't tried the latest SPTD versions to see if the problem still exists.
  17. It's unclear if you actually still have a problem. If this... ...is the last line in the log window (don't forget it scrolls), I need you to look at the status bar at the bottom of the main window and tell me what it says. That'll be what the program / your drive is still (stuck) doing.
  18. I can't see the failure in that log. If you still have the program open (after the failture), copy + paste the info from the log window. That said, you should probably read this... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=12200
  19. Post a log please - as per the pink box up the top
  20. It's all hit and miss. I doubt you'll get anywhere with anything beyond 4x. Take a look at my settings / results here - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=18871&&do=findComment&comment=136519 I did 12 discs from the same spindle with various settings until I found some that seemed to work reliably.
  21. We do have a 'Guides' section "How to copy a disc" http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=6380
  22. It's covered here - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=19743
  23. That's fine apart from the 'to make commercial use of the work' bit. You're free to use (share/remix) the screenshots when talking about ImgBurn - which shouldn't ever be 'commercial' - as per the license at the bottom of the main website. Of course if 'commercial' means something else (i.e. maybe just advertising ImgBurn - I'm no lawyer) then you're fine to use the creative commons license for the screenshots.
  24. Probably... what's the English translation? lol
