  1. I'm not sure I get why you need the directshow lame encoder anyway. (It's certainly not something ImgBurn uses) There must be loads of gui's out there to perform flac -> mp3 conversions. If all else fails you can always use flac.exe to decode the flac to wave and then something like lamexp to convert to mp3. That tool might even be able to go straight from flac to mp3, I'm not sure.
  2. It wouldn't help but we don't support old versions. Maybe you've got a bad batch of discs or perhaps your drive needs a clean.
  3. No, there's no such thing as an mp3 audio disc. It's either a data disc (which might contain mp3, ogg, wma etc) or it's a proper Audio CD. Just because you might be converting MP3 files to the raw pcm CD-DA sectors doesn't make it an mp3 audio disc. If you burn from a CUE file the program will convert the files to raw pcm and burn. Whatever format those files were in is now lost as there is no 'file type' on a proper Audio CD. It's just CD-DA data. You'll only get seamless playback on a proper Audio CD. With a data disc, it's down to the player really if it can play files without any sort of gap between them. That's just the nature of the format. A proper Audio CD will let you store 74 / 80 mins on the CD (like a proper pressed CD you buy in the shops), a data disc will give tens of hours depending on the bitrate used in the compressed files.
  4. The log only shows you burning at 2.4x and those discs are rated to 16x. I can't see which speeds your drive/firmware supports them at though because you're still using 2.4.3.0 in that log and it had a bug that stopped the 'Supported Write Speeds' from being displayed.
  5. Ok, it's not one of those then. What controller is the drive attached to? (which motherboard do you have?) It could be that your drivers are blocking the command rather than the drive just not supporting it. If you really must have booktyping capabilities, you might need to invest in a new drive.
  6. Update ImgBurn (although that won't fix it) Try a faster burn speed.
  7. It's probably the wrong drive type if they all (but 1) say that error - 'Invalid Command Operation Code'. Do you get 'Invalid Command Operation Code' if you try the LiteOn tab instead?
  8. Nope, it's not possible. Burn on the fly and it'll tell you the % full for the media in the drive.
  9. The file system used on such discs cannot be read (in full) by Windows, that's why it reports the size it does.
  10. Your drive can't see the disc - which either means you've forgotten to put it in the tray or it doesn't support them (try another dye).
  11. Correct, Pioneers don't offer any commands for use by software tools to change the booktype.
  12. BenQ by the looks of it. Took about 30 seconds on Google!
  13. I wish they'd fix the issue in Wine so SPTI works properly. They just aren't giving the drive a drive letter and that's why no programs can see it.
  14. Burning from a CUE of audio files makes a CD-DA disc, not a data disc. The two are totally different. ImgBurn doesn't create any new files when it's burning the disc (from a CUE), the data from the compressed audio file is simply fed into directshow and then its output (Raw PCM) is written directly to the disc as a bunch of audio sectors (2352 bytes per sector). Yes the system32 folder is fine for DS filters. lame.exe is a command line tool, not a directshow filter. You don't register it at all. If you don't want gaps on an mp3 disc then yes, you'll need to merge the songs that play as one long track... personally I wouldn't bother. A split second gap as it switches mp3's is worth it so you can skip tracks and have proper names for what's being played.
  15. I'm not so sure that it's antivirus... they normally pop up an error if they detect an issue - and of course they delete the file / stick it in quarantine rather than stopping it running. Really you need to find out which bit of software is actually causing the issue (look in the logs) - then we can talk to whoever makes it and get them to fix the problem.
  16. Even the decompressed version won't load? Are you sure you decompressed it properly? The exe grows to about 4 times its normal size (i.e. 8MB) Boot into safe mode and see if it will load then.
  17. ImgBurn only converts audio files when you're burning proper CD Audio discs (CD-DA). If you want an MP3 audio disc you'll need to convert the files yourself as that's basically just like burning any old normal data disc. The filters are directshow filters, most come with their own installer. Failing that, you'll need to put them in a static location (i.e. one that will always be there) and then register them via 'regsvr32'. i.e. regsvr32 If you do actually want a proper CD Audio disc (playable on all cd players), just follow the guide - it tells you how to make the CUE. This feature is built into ImgBurn. If you don't and you want an mp3 audio (data) disc, you don't need a CUE file. Just drag the folders/files into the 'Source' box in Build mode and burn your disc.
  18. Where did you get 2.4.3.0 from?! 2.4.4.0 is the latest. Your drive is just burning coasters on those discs. Try some better ones (Verbatim/Taiyo Yuden) as suggested earlier and if they still don't work, try cleaning your drive.
  19. Is it too late to take that drive back?! What made you purchase it in the first place? Why didn't you go for one of the standard (and newer!) models that have proper support / firmware updates etc?
  20. That one is of course from 'Friends'
  21. For anyone reading this thread, the free 'Dr. Web' program is called 'CureIt!' and it can be downloaded from here - http://www.freedrweb.com/
  22. If you want a reliable burn, buy decent discs. As you already know, your drive doesn't support your discs at 1x. 6x is the lowest it'll go.
  23. I believe you pay for a premium download service on that site, not the program itself - and the service should apply to all the programs they host. It's almost like rapidshare etc in that respect. Bad wording on their part, I agree. EDIT: Seems the 2.99 is a one off fee - how crap. They do offer a 'deluxe' membership though which lets you download anything you want from them - but of course that's more.
