  1. You say it can record to DVD-/+RW and read it back, yes?

Make an image of that disc and burn it back using ImgBurn, does it read it again?

Post the logs of that sessions and the info on the right from the disc recorded in Panasonic.

  2. Ah, that's not what you wrote in the first post.

Do you have the latest firmware installed as it states in description: 3.Improves DVD-Video playback of DVD+RW discs. may be related. http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.DMR-EH55S.D#ts

You don't need any formatting, you just write on disc as on regular DVD.

Make sure you verify your burns.

Probably the player don't like that disc. Try other brand. Verbatim are recommended.

  3. Are you sure you talk about Panasonic DMR-E55?

In the manual found here http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRE55.PDF nowhere I can found it can play avi.

In the manual, as I quoted, DVD-/+RW is not supported but here in Technical Specifications for DMR-E55K is presented as DVD-RW, DVD-R Playback Capability Yes

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/Technical-Specification/model.DMR-E55K.T#ts. Though I lean to think only highlighted in bold is supported.

Maybe you have a successor DMR-E55K, DMR-E55S as I see here is a firmware update for them http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.DMR-E55K.D#ts

  4. Your Panasonic player can't play avi's

The formats supported are DVD Audio / DVD Video / Video CD / Audio CD / MP3 CD

Taken from the manual, Discs that cannot be played

    2.6 and 5.2 GB DVD-RAM, 12 cm (5z)

    3.95 and 4.7 GB DVD-R for Authoring

Unfinalized DVD-R recorded on other equipment (➡ page 40, Finalize)

PAL discs (you can still play the audio on DVD-Audio)

DVD-Video with a region number other than “1” or “ALL”

    DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, iR, iRW, CD-ROM, CDV, CD-G, Photo CD,

CVD, SVCD, SACD, MV-Disc, PD, Divx Video Disc, etc.

    You can only use DVD-R / DVD-RAM / CD-R/RW in that player/recorder.

You need to convert the avi's to DVD Video standard using DVD Flick or DVD Styler.

  5. Do the discs were verified at the time of burn? Do they play on standalone player?

Looking at the log the problem is VIDEO_TS.VOB, that is the menu of the disc.

Try copy the all the vobs starting with VTS_01_0.VOB as files and reauthor the discs.

Alternatively you could try extract with IsoBuster as much as you can and reauthor the discs cutting out the bad parts.

    Update ImgBurn to current release.

  6. Put a disc in the drive, wait for ImgBurn to access it for information and look on the right side for

    Pre-recorded Information:

    Manufacturer ID:

If you are in Build mode, switch to Device tab, in all other modes you get the info straight.

You can't compare a drive to another, especially when aren't the same brand and model. It's all about drive/firmware/media combination incompatibility.

Verbatims are the most compatible/reliable media to all drives, that's why is always recommended.

  7. I 16:14:31 Destination Device: [0:0:0] ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U 1.02 (J:) (USB)

    I 16:14:31 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x)

    W 16:36:41 Device Arrival Detected!

Update chipset/storage controler drivers. This site migt help you http://www.ma-config.com/

Laptop/slimline burners arn't recommended for dual layer burning, regardless of manufacturer they are pretty rubbish.

MKM-003-00 is 6x rated, still your drive claims that it can only burn it at max 6x. Try 2.4x and 6x speeds too.

  8. I 10:26:50 Destination Device: [0:1:0] TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C SB04 (D:) (ATA)

    I 10:26:50 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: UMEDISC-DL1-64) (Speeds: 4x)

Did the former used discs have the same Disc ID: UMEDISC-DL1-64?

Whatever speed you set it will be burned at 4x since it is the only speed supported on that media.

Try again after update the firmware for your drive to SB06 http://www.firmwarehq.com/Samsung/SH-S223C/files.html

Try a new spindle, maybe you got a faulty batch.

  9. If the burn and verify was succesful, isn't ImgBurn problem.

We can't and will not help you to copy the disc. We can only help in burning related problems.

Does the files play nice as it should (play as BD disc) from the hard drive image mounted in a virtual drive played in PowerDVD, TotalMedia Theatre 5, etc.?

Make sure you have the latest firmware installed in your player http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=BDPS570&SelectOS=43

Post the log showing burn and verify enabled.

  10. I 02:06:49 Destination Device: [0:1:0] MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ880AS 1.00 (E:) (ATAPI)

    I 02:06:49 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 2.4x; 4x; 6x)

    I 02:06:49 Write Speed: 2.4x

Your disc is 8x rated media but your drive don't even show it can burn it at that speed.

Try 4x and 6x to see if it will produce a working disc.

You could try cleaning the laser lens.

Try to find 2.4x rated media MKM-001-00

Unfortunately MATSHITA drives are the worst among the burners and notorious for not providing firmware updates.

  11. OK, seems indeed is a writer, dontasciime, one of the Beta Team Members has one.

In any mode go to Tools > Drive > Capabilities, there will show what it can do.

Post a screen of that and post a log as per the pinnk box above says.

Please describe in detail what you did and what do you try to accomplish.
