The Memorex DLs I've seen are Ritek, although there are others (see here). Verbs made in Signapore are the best quality. There are ones Made in India which reputedly are lesser quality. Regards

Yup - throw away the Riteks and get Verbatim, +R, 2.4x, MKM-001-00, Made in Singapore Regards

The car nav discs use PTP whereas all DL optical media sold today are OTP. That means that the sectors are written from the inside out on both layers (OTP writes inside out then outside in). It therefore references disc sectors in a different way and therefore won't work. Give up. I know they are expensive but they are designed to rip you off. Get a cheap portable one instead. Regards

Personally, I don't think so. Disc to disc copy would probably end up with heaps of noobs (yes, including your granny) asking questions like "it doesn't copy" (because they are trying to copy a protected DVD) - we already get more than our fair share of dumb questions about this; here's just one example posted today. LUK! may have a different mindset, however. Regards

We really do not encourage on the fly copying, if that's what you are suggesting. But perhaps what you are suggesting is a combo of Create Image File from disc and Write image file to disc. Regards

Spinner - you are not the only person suggesting that! I have 20 million fellow citizens who agree with you. We had some fires here about 25 years ago - they called it Ash Wednesday (google it). All I can tell you is these fires last weekend make Ash Wednesday look like a backyard BBQ. It is just so horrible to know that when these fires are finally put out and emergency teams can finally come in to survey and clean up the damage, even more innocent people will be found dead. @spinner Kinglake and St Andrew are about 20 minutes from me - many people died there and the towns are in ruins. Healsville is about 30 minutes away, but it seems the town (and its wildlife sanctuary) are OK. Marysville and Buxton are about 45 minutes away and they have been wiped off the map. Whittlesea is also just 30 minutes away and 1,000 people there are without a home. People are living in tent towns. @AC - there is a suggestion that when they catch these fuckers, they should be taken to the Coroner and made to view the bodies. I couldn't agree more. Regards
