"Incompatible Medium" error after successful burning
Cynthia replied to alexz's topic in ImgBurn Support
Hi and welcome to the forum, alexz! Had the same burner before and it started to act the same. The only difference was that it neither could be read in the same burner as it was burned with. Some time after this behaviour the burner broke down totally. The difference with Nero and ImgBurn is that the first one do not reject/insert the disc between burn and verify stage. If you as a test disable that option in the ImgBurn settings (write tab) I'm sure that you'll find that it works between every burn. When I had my problem the status of the disc was not this: Disc Information: Status: Complete If you insert a burned disc and look in the right part of the window. Does it say "Complete"? -
Verify fails, no matter the input file, in the same place every time
Cynthia replied to jcumbie's topic in ImgBurn Support
According to this post http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=27742 your burner is a rebadged Lite-On. That should make it possible to use a tool such as Nero DiscSpeed/Opti Drive Control/DVDInfoPro to do a quality scan of the disc. If you get terrible results - you know it's the burning phase (=burner/firmware/media) that is a joke. http://www.cdspeed2000.com/ Use 8x as scanning speed for the first two programs and 4x for DVDInfoPro. You get most accurate results that way. -

I guess you disabled this one? -
I have the H model of that burner and Verbatims work well with that one (DH-20A3H) http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=10902

You need to contact Lite-On to ask them to change the firmware. Currently the lowest speed possible in that firmware version is 4x. I 22:40:36 Destination Device: [0:1:0] ATAPI DVD A DH20A3P XY13 (E:) (ATA) I 22:40:36 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: UMEDISC-DL1-64) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) I 22:40:36 Destination Media Sectors: 4,173,824 I 22:40:36 Write Mode: DVD I 22:40:36 Write Type: DAO I 22:40:36 Write Speed: 2.4x I 22:40:36 Link Size: Auto I 22:40:36 Lock Volume: Yes I 22:40:36 Test Mode: No I 22:40:36 OPC: No I 22:40:36 BURN-Proof: Enabled W 22:40:36 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 3,324 KB/s (2.4x), Got: 5,540 KB/s (4x) Aone used to have the Ritek media code before. They changed it to the Umedisc code some months ago. That media code is a bit new and my guess it that it's not very good implemented in the write strategy of the firmware. Try the other speed - 6x and 8x and if they also fail - try with a bit "older" media code/another brand of discs or get a burner that supports that media code better.

Curious. You get slow speeds also when you burn DVD's? -

Hi and welcome to the forum, ssmehta007! Shouldn't be any problems to add .avi files in the build mode. You are in Build mode when you add it? What error message do you get? Changing the .avi to .iso is the same as you wrote banana on an apple. It's still an apple. The .avi is not an image file and that's why you can't use the write mode. If you are going to play the .avi on a regular DVD player that can't play .avi files - you need to convert the file(s) first with a program such as DVD Flick.

You mean the black borders? If so - the video is in wide screen 16:9 format.

Good choice!

Hope it's not a Matshita...

Tried to flash it again with that firmware? It might got wrong during the installation.
-
Not even in Read mode it will display the info about the disc in the right corner of the window?
-
Dumb question. The image file (ISO?) is that for a DVD DL media? How big is the ISO file? You are in write mode when you get that error message?

I have the same burner and it should work with all the available speeds with that 8x media. The best speed is 4x. Sure it's an empty disc you put in?
