  1. Perhaps time to get a good external USB burner. If your current one can't burn the best discs on the market - I see a dark future for it. Might be worth to try to clean the laser head with a cleaning disc first.
  2. Most certainly the one you posted in post #2 for the original version of that model. Try this page. There is an autodetect update function. http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
  3. The myths about write speed department. These are your available speeds with the current combination of media/firmware/burner: Speeds: 3x, 4x, 6x You set it to 2.4x in both versions. You get 3x in both versions. The only difference is that the later version informs you about it. Conclusion: 2.4x is an impossible speed - as you got 3x in both versions. If I had a burner with that many issues, I would give it a one way ticket to the nearest dumpster and get a good external USB burner. Just the amount of the current coaster rate should soon have paid for such a new burner.
  4. The speed through an USB 1.x connection is so slow that hardly the mouse can keep up with it. A DVD burner needs to be feeded with much higher speeds like from an USB 2.0 connection. You best solution is to buy an internal USB 2.0 card and then put the burner to that connection.
  5. If you thank me one more time you should be able to fix your issue.
  6. Either you need to wait some days or get some more posts before you can use the function. The restriction is due to Spammers & Co.
  7. Is it a Dell/HP/Compaq computer? If so - try to find the firmware on their pages.
  8. Hi and welcome to the forum, X360noob! Samsungs should be book typed by default when you burn with ImgBurn. Samsungs lowest speed on double layer media is normally 4x. Post a log of that "failed" burn. You'll find it here: Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs
  9. That burn seems to be related to no issues. What's the problem you are facing?
  10. Seems to be a pure US model based on the included Qflix application function. Please report back how it works.
  11. Curious. Is that a portable or desktop computer? According to your posted image - you only have the turtle slow USB 1.x. If it's a desktop computer, I would go for an internal add in card with USB 2.0.
  12. Hi and welcome to the forum, 0wnall! Is it a HP computer? If so see if you can find a later firmware on their web page. Other than to see if there is a later firmware, try to clean the laser head with a cleaning disc or try with another media code (brand of discs) than the current ones you are using.
  13. You need a zip code for that page. Zip codes for me is pure Greek as I don't live in the US. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;js...d=1218069254016 It's a bit high priced but it would be the one I would pick from that page.
  14. Lite-Ons are not my cup of tea. However nice for scannings. Some models do not go very well with DL media.
  15. That model really hates burning Verbatims at 2.4x speed despite the different media codes.
  16. Hi and welcome to the forum, Kortez! Try the UDS2 firmware here. It might give you better burn results. If not - try another brand of media. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Sony/DW-Q58A/files.html Also check in the FAQ forum to see if DMA is enabled. The write rates are very low.
  17. I like Pioneers. Get an internal version and put it into an external USB cabinet if you can fit it inside the computer. Models 115/116/117/215/216/217.
  18. There is only one speed to select, so selecting something else is useless as it will revert back to 2.4x. Your burner simple doesn't like that media. An external burner would solve your issues.
  19. Hi and welcome to the forum, Ivion! There is a later version of ImgBurn. Can you see the burner in Windows Explorer? How is it attached? Internal cable/USB/FireWire?
  20. Your burner doesn't like that brand of media.
  21. You used 4x speed also in your first post. 6x and 8x are the others to try.
  22. There are media out on the market that no burner can stand. In my opinion - get a new burner. If you like cheap discs - you will gain the costs of the new burner in no time. Just get a burner that is "good".
  23. Hi and welcome to the forum, BAdBOne! Your burner simple doesn't like that brand of disc. It's an older burner, try with some "older" media codes like Verbatims.
  24. Hi and welcome to the forum, sonofademon! I guess the burner you borrowed is not the same model/brand as your sisters? The issues from the part of the log you posted is that the burner doesn't like your choice of media. Post the full log - there are other stuff in the non posted parts that can solve your issue.
