You shouldn't need to use this function just insert a +R disc and burn it. ImgBurn should book type it automatically for you during the burning stage.

1. LG writer doesn't support book type on RW discs. 2. What happens when you burn a +R disc - you stated that you got no luck - could you post that log? 3. You shouldn't need to do anything with the book type settings (if you use default ones) to not get automatic book type when burning to a +R disc.

Spend the money on a nice writer, there is much crap out there.

Can you post that log? N/A = Not available function. According to the log, it's not book typed to DVD-ROM.

Have you tried to burn a regular +R disc and also made sure that the option 'Auto 'Change Book Type'' is enabled in the settings (write tab)? It sounds as you are trying to play around with the Book Type options in the Book Type department of the programs settings - as you have a LG - you shouldn't need to use those as the program will do it for you.

You need to buy a burner.

Hi and welcome to the forum, alec! With those issues (that the disc can't be read due to errors during the burning stage), yes verify should be done. It looks as you either are burning to fast or the brand of discs (media code) is not fully supported by the writer. Might also be that you are using low quality discs. Try to update the firmware (the code that instructs the writer how to burn) to the latest version A105. If you update: No disc in the tray Tray closed Restart the computer after the update I do think that if you play the disc at the end you will see pix elations/freezing/jumping.

Depends on what media type the original was on. Most like they were on non re writable media. If you insert the disc in the reader/writer and select read mode in ImgBurn you should see what type of discs they are. RW = Re writable, only a R = no luck.

As there are no write speeds after the Disc ID part - that media code/brand of discs is not even supported by the firmware/writer, so I guess the writer uses a generic write approach that doesn't seem to work very well. Try to get some better discs.

In the part of the log that you didn't post you should see the available speeds that can be used with the current firmware. (The example is for a DVD) The other thing that can be an issue is the brand of media you are using. Perhaps it's of low quality?

The PMA error is independent of the used media brand. Only way of not encountering is to use -R media. Another trick seems to be to change the size of the project (Source File Sectors: 1,843,104).

In the location of the installed .exe file there is a file named ReadMe.txt that lists the various CLI commands.

Older drives seems to like the Verbatim 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) blanks better as they have been around longer. The new ones 8x - are sometimes not very well supported as the firmware for the writer has not been released for ages.

My point is that the various available burn speeds can produce different grades of quality of the burned disc. Most of the 16x rated discs gives better scanning results when burned at 8x or 12x. For 8x rated media, I've found that the max speed (8x) in most cases gives the best result. For 16x rated ones, were the max can go up to 20x it in most cases gives worse scannings than if the media is burned at 8x or 12x. The only way to know for sure, is to do some test burns at the various speeds and scan the discs and compare the results for the individual combination of media/hardware/firmware.

Various speed on the same media, can show very different quality results from the burning. So I do think selecting the right speed has everything do with the quality of the burned disc.

Might wanna try to use a slower speed, than the current one 8x.

Hi and welcome to the forum, darkstarr! If you have an .iso file - then just right click on it and select 'Burn with ImgBurn'. An .iso (image) file - is like a .zip file that contains one or several files/folders that will be automatically expanded when they are burned to the disc, so when you look at the burned disc (open it up) all the included files/folders in the .iso files are then extracted on the burned disc. If you have some ordinary files that you want to burn to a disc, then you need to use the Build mode and add the files/folder you want to burn to the disc. In the Guide section of the forum, there are guides that covers both ways. The default settings should work without issues.
