Not in my opinion. I only ever want to write once to a disc. I have other media to drag and drop replace/append etc.
-
update your firmware if there is a new one and/or change media to verbatim or taiyo yuden
-
Your right it is not related to ImgBurn. I assume you meant ATA66 I would slave the 2nd hard drive to pio 115 and get an 80 wire cable for the pioneer as using a 40 wire will slow it down. I would get 2 and change both your ide cables whilst you are at it.
-
scan hard drives for file system errors, uninstall the ide controller and reboot to make sure your drives are indeed in UDMA mode. Install latest firmware for 115 which should be 1.18 change ide cables to 80 wire ones, replace with 80 wire one to make sure your cables are not dodgy Really speaking on a 2 IDE machine I would set up devices as follows Primary IDE boot Hard drive [MASTER] as in the one with operating system on then connect another hard drive or IDE device as SLAVE to other end of cable. (say a dvd rom reader) (not the pioneer 115 though) Secondary IDE Pioneer 115 set to MASTER and then say another Hard drive set to slave or IDE device set to slave to other end of cable. I would try and avoid cable select on any machine if possible. Use scratch free cdrw cdr do you know what the max udma that old p3 handles ?

How do I tell if my drive has the latest Firmware

hp.com would be a good place to start -
I too thought it odd that both are being developed side by side. I was going to start a thread about new version then got sidetracked.

Stop using the Nvidia IDE /Storage driver and use the MS drivers instead so that your drive does not show up as SCSI. Then once you have done that use 8x as the lowest write speed for the rest of your disc's on that drive. put the buffer back to default in ImgBurn as well

Happy Birthday.

you sure the mp3 files you have are not mp3pro
-
post log. Have you got a cd/rw handy as well, which version ImgBurn are you using ?
-
And no matter what you think about it not being media related, untill you get some decent media instead of Ricoh rubbish you will see a hit and miss effect with your current choice in media, thats what they do.
-
Maybe it is time to buy a new drive but have you tried cleaning it with a cd lens cleaner?

some of the pioneer 112's have a known issue with burning and reading back cds -

Taiyo Yuden Cdr Is 16x not fast enough for you ? I know a while back 16x was highest I would burn Cd's @ to stop skipping in dodgy car cd players -
It would be better if you did not edit your posts and just reply with what you just tried
-
your benq might not like the mcc media especially if they are china faked ones you got any 8x disc's or any other 16x media
-
good luck on him hearing that : I'm sure I mentioned that bout 15 posts ago.

your drive failed with OPC Enabled mine did not, thats why it was quicker. btw did you uninstall the enhanced host controller from device manager under universal serial bus controllers. it will detect your hardware again on a reboot / best to restart even if it finds new hardware straight away b4 reboot, you could try changing the usb cable as well. Not likely either of those are at fault but my usb has stuck at 4x b4 long time ago and only fix was to unistall EHCI (the enhanced port) another thing to try maybe power supply to your enclosure is not the right one and does not have enough ampage as not all external drive power supplies are the same.(especially if you have a few different makes you may have mixed up the PSU's) also if your enclosure uses prolific 3507 chip update the firmware in enclosure as if i remember rightly there was an issue with Benq drives and I think the 1650 which a firmware update to enclosure fixed. [edit] i just looked at prolific firmware and it was a benq 1640 and another benq but not 1650) still if you are using enclosure with pl3507 it might help to make sure chipset is up to date. Another thing make sure you have any drive in any enclosure set to master and not slave and that it is using 80 wire short ide cable.

I have a few 1650's will burn a +R over my network in a couple of minutes.

unless you have merged a couple of registry entries nero lies about the speed it is burning at unrar/unzip this and merge into registry then see for yourself. neroregtricks.zip also update the firmware in your benq BCIC i think is latest http://benq.co.uk/support/downloads/downlo...ads&dtype=B Edit your using nero 7 and I think nero 7 has the option to show actual burn speed, whether you have that ticked though is another matter. You may also have to get some disc's that are on the benq compatibilty list or even listed in firmware [edit again] just checked and bcdc and bcic both have mcc-004-000 listed try setting WOPC under advanced tab of benq to NO or use qsuite to do it. cleaning the drive with a cd lens cleaner might help as well
-
maybe take out uninstall the Ehci usb from device manager (enhanced one) and let it pick up again once you have tried everything else, you manage 4x so it is not like it is performing at usb1 speed so it is not likely to be that but I would try if everything else you try fails. have you also tried to disable smartburn and see if you get faster or maybe clear the smartburn history like OPC on liteons. Using qsuite if benq drives do the same that is, can't remember.
-
it is more than likely the dvd43 one, winamp does use sonic but I have never had any trouble with that.
-
does not mean it still works, I re used a one from a sata dvd rom and it was broken. Change it as the last thing to try, you are probally correct in thinking there is nothing wrong with it but it has to be changed to rule it out.
