Can ImgBurn copy Divx or convert it into a regular DVD?
dontasciime replied to coody's topic in ImgBurn Support
if you have a disc you want to copy use read mode this saves as an ISO which you then burn in Write mode. If you have read all the files from the disc to your hard drive so that they are FILES then you would use build mode to build into an ISO which you then write with Write mode. -
get a tool from western digital and knock drive in sata 2 300 if your board supports it and knock drive in sata 1 150 if you board does not handle sata 2 or NCQ if that drive has that feature. See if you can also set the drive to not spin down to 5400 rpm as well and look at features that make it green and see if you can disable them. check which sata port you are using on the board you have, if on a raid sata port change to another, change sata cable as last resort and update drivers if third party like jmicron consider letting windows use standard ms drivers especially if your board has nforce chipset. Also set bios to IDE mode for sata and not AHCI It might even have a tiny jumper to set sata mode on hard drive itself

power calibration area error NEC 2510
dontasciime replied to iancalderbank's topic in ImgBurn Support
Do get some verbatim's but you should consider replacing that NEC with a modern writer. Pioneer 115, some of the latest Liteon's or Samsung. I would go for an IDE drive personally -
google you could have provided a bit more info.

Pioneer DVR-X152 Not Recognized as Writer in XP
dontasciime replied to NateTut's topic in ImgBurn Support
download this then use winrar to extract to folder usbpassremover Usb_Pass_Remover The files within folder place(copy to usb pen)(they have to be on root (not in a folder) then from cmd prompt type this (to make getting to cmd prompt easier try the reg file below ( once merged simply right click on usbpassremover folder) and choose Ascii Command) then take notice of the drive letter assigned to usb pen and type o:\syslinux.exe -ma o: [o is the letter assigned to my flash pen yours will be different] ascii_command_prompt_from_folder.reg if you can boot from usb you can change admin pass or upgrade your account to Admin status (choose which drive has windows and follow prompts) P.s It might have been quicker to just write 1,s 0,s on disc -

You could try this download that reg file above put it on your dekstop then restart computer and press [F8] to boot into safe mode Choose the Administrator account (has to be this one not the named Admin) then start look for my computer , open my computer then docs and settings your user name /desktop and find the reg file import it then restart Just tried it on my guest account with my named Admin passworded and I can now burn using ImgBurn in guest account) -

After messing on a bit more I managed to figure out key to enable SPTI for non ADMIN eg for guest account from a registry entry however You need ADMIN to merge into registry (quicker than going through Gpedit or MMC though) not much good to poster but maybe trick admin into merging:D Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "allocatecdroms"="1" guest_spti.reg -

Yeah I know. Still if that reg would have worked it would save admin gpedit to allow cdrom from user(guest etc) but I cannto get reg key to work that way anyways. starburner I believe allows SPTI without admin unless I read it wrong last time I looked. ISO buster mentions it or one of the other ISO tools. -

I've spent the best part of 2 hours messing on with a guest account to get access to I/O eg Spti in XP without admin. Thought I had it but hit snags Maybe someone else can spot something I may have overlooked. Here's what I tried type gpedit.msc in start/run then windows settings / security settings / local policies / security option Enable Device : Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on user only (this works for guest after log off) but you have to have admin rights in the first instance to edit this with gpedit.msc (you can use gpedit without admin but cannot alter this value) Enabling this sort of sets registry value below [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SeCEdit\Reg Values\MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon/AllocateCDRoms] "ValueType"=dword:00000001 "DisplayType"=dword:00000000 "DisplayName"="Devices: Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on user only_@scii" which I exported to reg file (I stuck @scii at end of description to check if display name altered to make sure I had right key/entry in regedit) Trouble is importing/merging that reg file in with guest account fails as not all of the key is imported and even if it was imported fully that reg key must not be the be all and end all of setting enabled in gpedit) cos even if I reset to disable in my admin account(with gpedit) and then import reg key where value is 1 enabled it does not when logging off and logging on to guest account give me access to CdRom access like setting the value to enabled with secedit (gpedit) [edit] maybe guest account is diff to actually creating another user, might try again when I get back from where I'm going. -
help creating/writing xbox 360 games to disc?
dontasciime replied to maddogchad's topic in ImgBurn Support
Oh dear another footstamper. Here's a present for you And I stand corrected [360] 6.87 MB video files, must be xbox that is 13 meg ish -
Try a different IDE cable make sure it is 80 wire one. Check which drivers are in use for IDE and update them or if using nforce uninstall and use standard ms drivers for ATA etc. ~(or just use standard ms drivers regardless of controller) If your board is using Jmicron then there are issues with slowness unless you use their updated driver) BTW those TDK disc's are Crap get Verbatim 2.4x ones as advised by Blutach

Reinstall (if the mobo is same exact model you may get away with a little more but really a full format install should be done and bios upgrade if available and update DMI) If it is a different brand motherboard def format and install etc. Just asking for trouble running previous xp on diff hardware etc.

Extremely slow burn speed and an inexplicable solution
dontasciime replied to George Austin's topic in ImgBurn Support
I always use standard Ms drivers instead of Nvidia on all my nforce boards it is easier that way. You may be unlucky and will have to re install if too much crap is left in but only use the nforce driver for chipset and decline the storage drivers on your clean install if it comes to that -

try your bios and use sata as IDE instead of AHCI or if your using motherboard sata drivers uninstall them and let MS standard drivers take over. What motherboard is it btw ? -
Write protected error when burning Traxdata DVD+R
dontasciime replied to Hallvard's topic in ImgBurn Support
That does not mean check in Windows to see if it says udma mode , it means follow the advice in FAQ about DMA issues. Although your burn never even got started so Above for future reference and no harm to try and remove controller for windows to pick it back up. -
no it is not a bug , your disc is damaged or your reader is dirty or broken [edit] having read again (or rather all the words) It is down to multisession discs you have/ how they were created etc ImgBurn has limited support for all multisession. Or it's a mixture of both if your saying one session disc's do this as well post a log so the author can look at it and tell you for sure what is going on as there are only a few multisession disc's my ImgBurn struggles with and none for a while since the latest version was released.

check out the faq look for dma issues -
update your drive to 1.05 and the 8x should be ok. you may also be able to burn them at 2.4 but the 2.4x MKM-001-00 only list as writeable @ 4x so perhaps the 8x ones are 4x and above only the 2.4x should be 2.4x 4x according to firmware the 8x ones are listed as 2.4x 4x 8x and 10x according to firmware 1.05 firmware 1.05
