  1. Get one of the new liteon drives. Or Pioneer 112 work well with verbatim DL+ Maybe even a samsung 203 Sata drive or 202 IDE
  2. Your writer is so old it needs a key to wind it up. Plenty of new drives to choose from if DVD-ROM is important to you for Single Layer + and Dual Layer + get a newer Liteon. Other choices could be Pioneer 112 (only sets DVD-ROM on dual layer + not DVD+R) Maybe a new Samsung drive. Plenty to choose from just do not buy a no brand name or memorex
  3. If your dvd player can play AVI - divx/ xvid / mpeg 4 you would add files in build mode and burn the output iso (normal dvd players play MPEG2) and will not play AVI so you have to convert avi/divx to mpeg2 first and then add them in build mode and burn output iso. If you downloaded stuff they are zipped/rarred/compressed and will need to be extracted. Build mode will allow you to add files/ press defaults in ImgBurn to reset your settings and try again.
  4. Try switching to wnaspi32 instead of SPTI in the I/o settings in ImgBurn and also change the usb2 cable. Update the firmware in drive to latest if you have not already. I had the very uncommon Logical Unit Communication CRC Error (ULTRA-DMA/32) whilst using one of my drives in usb enclosure (rare you see this) but fixed it by doing the above OR more than likely swapping enclosure to a different chipset) If after the above you still get those errors send it back and buy a different one. I would avoid getting the exact same one again as if it is chipset related it's gonna do it again. You can download wnaspi32 from nero's site or google it
  5. It slowed it down. Beer and loose women
  6. one of my liteon 20a1p's is very noisy the other is noisy and the pio is quieter but there are no guarantees.
  7. pio 112 I have is Good, I like my liteon 20A1P's and Good Luck finding a new Benq1655. Only thing you can do with Pio 112 is to crossflash if you need to set DVD-ROM to single layer DVD+R So therefore the Liteon 20A1P would be my Rec based on your needs.
  8. Your confusing the end product achieved via ImgBurn. Google search is your best bet and then burn with ImgBurn.
  9. I have decided not to post my joke about E M but my lass says she will beat it out of me later.
  10. pio 112 will only set booktype to DVD-ROM on Dual Layer + It will do this automatically. You could crossflash it to buffalo firmware like I did with one of my pioneer 112 which will allow to booktype DVD+R automatically as well as dual layer + auto. The benq and liteon you listed will both set DVD-ROM and if you use the eeprom setting this will only need to be done once for it to automatically DVD-ROM on compatible media.
  11. That wouldn't be fair on the rest of us who spent £2,000,000 $4,000,000
  12. untick test mode maybe. Or open up drives and look directly at laser, if you go blind it's working, if you were blind already and now you can see, it's working.
  13. You all really should have just ignored him / her / them
  14. Not until the boys pay a visit and bop you on your snout
  15. and change to a new blank after that and try 4x
  16. try with 4x then 6x and finally 2.4
  17. and uninstall packet writing software you have installed
  18. press defaults button in ImgBurn as well
  19. It's a bit hard to say really on the info given. Writer/media/firmware incompatibility post a log or at least say which brand of media including Media code and type of dvd writer you have make firmware etc, which is why log comes in handy. You have posted when all the clairvoyants on here are ill due to unforeseen circumstances.
  20. strange there is no pci latency in bios, bastards have probs hidden it with a secret key press. Its in all my bios bar one its not in the Guru bit either ? or does your board not have the guru thingy First when u get in BIOS menu, press ctrl+F1. (maybe they use sim to gigabyte) to show other options. Logical place would be pnp/pci config Suppose the tool is good enough as long as it remembers value entered on reboot which I think that tool does.
  21. I was gonna suggest that as I had TV tuner card on an Asus board whereby the pci latency made the card better worse depending on value (only figured that out after returning my at the time top of the range Pixel view TV tuner which I could not get to work properly and so swapped it for a win go (i think thats what it was called)(and in win go instructions it said something which pointed me to pci latency in bios which would have also made my pixel view stereo tuner card work) (instead I got stuck with a mono tv tuner card) Thought it was an addon card you were using but searching on p35 silicon image seemed to suggest thats what it uses for sata ports built in. So did not want to say pci latency in case it made me look stupid if you replied with onboard, Saying that though your topic title does say Card you not got option in bios to set PCI latency
  22. Might have been the abit that brought your name to mind wonder who i know that has p35 then, apart from L_UK I think I will mess on with my 3112, think I need to flash it to IDE bios to allow optical drives. just downloaded some files might f on later. Will phone my mate who I think knows someone with p35 but he's a lazy twat and probs pointless phoning unless your prepared to wait like 4 months for an answer.
