  1. You should be aware that copyright laws differ in different parts of the world. For example, making backups (as per the Fair Use Act in the USA) is legal. In Australia it's not. Downloading copyright content is legal in Sweden. Downloading copyright material or creating backups is illegal in the UK. Keep this in mind next time you feel the need to flap those gums about breach of copyright.
  2. Crikey mate - I get lots every day when I visit my fave porn sites Regards I use linux for that.
  3. Sort of.. 1ST CLASS MEDIA: Fake DVD Media ID Guide:
  4. Sorry, as I said, I'm new to all this... What does the Disc ID: TTH02 mean and why is it bad? Have a look at http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm and search for TTH02.
  5. The brand name is immaterial. The important bit is the media ID which you can find in your logfile.
  6. L_UK: I think we need to look a little more closely at beta candidates in the future.
  7. True. It might be beneficial in some situations to have multiple access user accounts. Personally, I've never bothered. In 20+ years using these things I don't think I've ever had a virus attack, trojan or whatever. Computer security is less about installing mass amounts of protection software, shutting down services and limiting user access but more about common sense. Having said that, this isn't a newbie tool. The expectation here is that people at least have a basic understanding of how computers and their software functions. If they just want to burn a DVD and not have to think about it then they should use Ner0. If they have the competency to understand the basics of this software, one would expect they can also protect themselves from the big, bad internet. I digress.... Agreed.
  8. After having a quick read about this Avid I don't think I've ever seen any software that has more strict requirements. Even to the point of telling you not to use Athlon-based CPUs and then recommending HP systems instead..... which has me a little curious given the stupid way the BIOS works and the non-standard connection for IDE drives on the Pavillion systems as well as the inflexibility you have when fitting new hardware. It's an odd choice. (HP hate mode off) Hmm... have you ever considered dual-booting your PC? You could keep the Win2K installation for your video editing and boot into XP for everything else. It might be worth thinking about.

  10. I downloaded it from Dontas' link just fine. I've uploaded it to my webspace for you here: http://users.tpg.com.au/adsldxhe/nd-3500a_win218.rar
  11. Mate, get the service packs. I use w2k on a few machines here myself and you really do need them. Firmware is a fancy name for the drives' internal software. As you'd be aware with many other programs (including this one ) bugs can creep in or updates for the way the software functions become available. A firmware update can fix many problems and include support for other functions your drive may need.
  12. I guess that you're staying then? Welcome. Our resident guru and provider to the masses (Oh, Lightning_UK, Great One who walketh about upright ) has taught we peasants a great deal over the years. I guarantee that you'll learn something. Most people do.
  13. Firmware is region independent. (It works with all regions). Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> DVD/CD-ROM Drives Right-click on your drive and select Properties Click the Advanced Settings tab Select Sweden Hit OK Reboot Done
  14. Save yourself some headaches and grab a Pioneer drive or something. The Matshita drives have never been very popular around here.... or any other forum I've seen for various reasons. They're just a bad drive.
  15. Your region is ...... well.... what region you are. The world is divided into 6 regions (technically 8). Your drive needs to know (for compatibility reasons) what part of the world you're in. Have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code If you need help setting your drives' region - ask.
  16. This is bad. What it means is that your drive (not ImgBurn) is unable to read the disk you've just burned. Just out of curiosity, try burning the same ISO again but slow the burn speed down to 4x and see what happens.
  17. Some of the language is supposed to be offensive. To put it bluntly, we don't tolerate morons here. I, for one, have no desire to go into a 10 page spiel on how a given individual has upset the status quo of the forum and may possibly be causing untold damage to my sensitive side when a simple "Fuck off, idiot" will suffice. If you can understand this, you can understand the mentality of the regular posters here. Any answers received are a gift, as is the program Lightning_UK spends his time developing. What alot of people seem to forget is that we're here everyday answering questions for no other reason than to help others as we already know what we're doing. It's immaterial what they think. It's a sure bet that none of us care. To ban the word "lesbian" gives you idea of the control this power freak wishes to exert. You'll find no such masturbatory self-absorption here. The upshot of all this is: If you wish to learn - stay. If not - depart in peace.
  18. Try a firmware update and see if that fixes the problem. http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-e/ibs/...12D_FW115EU.EXE
  19. A rare display of wit from one who seems to possess roughly half of that.... While my understanding of security may be inferior to one of your obvious gifts, I find that a good understanding of the software I use to be an asset to me. It's certainly better than the education you've based your arguements on. Don't forget about that Etch-a-sketch.
  20. The first course of action in dealing with possible security problems is to ask - which you did. Debating the answer with the people who actually know is just arrogance. For what it's worth, Lightning_UKs' current and pasts programs (including DVD Decrypter) have been connecting to these same sites and for the same reason for years. LavaSoft, SpyBot etc would have flagged this program as malicious long ago if it were so, wouldn't they?
  21. Have you got any media besides those InfoDisk ones? I've never used their re-writables but their DVD-R media is rubbish. A log file would be handy if you still have it.
  22. And you sound like an idiot to me. You've been told 3 times already why ImgBurn connects to these sites. Even the author has told you. I'd tell you for a forth time if I thought you'd listen. Given your apparent inability to grasp simple English, it may be time for you to sell your PC and buy something less complicated. I suggest an Etch-a-sketch.
