Care to tell us what you did?
-
It should all be automatic so if it's not working, either your drive doesn't support the booktype command or your drivers are blocking it.
-
ImgBurn is written in C++ but it's done inside Borland C++ Builder rather than Visual C++ or whatever. I have no interest in making more work for myself and I have no interest in Linux beyond the little bit of messing around I do now with Ubuntu and Wine.
-
damn it! snap again
-
Try burning at all the speeds your drive supports on that media. After that, if none of them work, read this: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
-
Why 'port' when you can Wine? I have no idea how hard it would be but I'd never do it anyway and I'd never give anyone else the code to try it themselves. Sorry.
-
You should also leave the log window open all the time - It's in the 'View' menu -> 'Log'.
-
Don't go for the 2009 version then, previous versions will be ok with Windows 2000. In fact, the echo workstation version actually lists Windows 2000 SP4.
-
Do you actually want help with anything? If so, post a log. ImgBurn doesn't limit its 'Write Speed' box, it lists everything a drive could possibly do on *any* media. It's down to you to pick a speed from the 'Supported Write Speeds' list or just leave it on 'MAX' etc.
-
Just add 'ATAPI iHAS' (without quotes but it must be EXACTLY that) to that advanced window, that's basically all I'm doing internally in the next version.

Please post the log of you burning + verifying the disc in question (or one of them at least) where CD-TEXT was supposed to have been written but doesn't show up. ImgBurn can be used to confirm your drive has written it (and can read it back) if you look at the burnt media in 'Read' mode and click the little 'View Media Information...' button.
-
We don't want the FULL, full log, just the entire session's worth where you burnt + verified a Verbatim disc.

Finalising disc fails DVD+R DL - IMG Log Inside
LIGHTNING UK! replied to bob100's topic in ImgBurn Support
You can't and it wouldn't make a difference anyway. 2x isn't possible on your drive so it'll be burning at 2.4x... which just leaves you to try 4x and then follow my other advice. -
Nec/Optiarc AD-7170S & Verbatim - no go!
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Headcleanr's topic in ImgBurn Support
Yup, you're going to have to (potentially) waste another DVD-R DL and try out the drive with the new 1.03 firmware. Do make sure it really is on 1.03 first though - and that you've rebooted your PC. After that, get the Verb DVD+R DL discs. I'm sure your actual drive is fine. -
Finalising disc fails DVD+R DL - IMG Log Inside
LIGHTNING UK! replied to bob100's topic in ImgBurn Support
Have you tried burning at 2.4x and 4x? If they both fail, try this: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 If they fail (with the same error), read this: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=7860 ... and then you'll probably just end up buying a new drive. -
Nec/Optiarc AD-7170S & Verbatim - no go!
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Headcleanr's topic in ImgBurn Support
Update the firmware. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-7170S/files.html If that doesn't work (and you should do this anyway), stop buying DVD-R DL and get DVD+R DL instead. For reliable DL burning you need to follow this: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 -
Acronis True Image

Give up, it'll never work... it's not designed to and neither is your drive. If you paid for CopyThatGame, you got ripped off. That website/product is a scam. Get your money back.

This actual cause of the 'hang' is probably a dodgy filter driver or old controller driver. If you want to try and fix it properly you can start by bringing up the filter drivers list via the option on the Tools menu and then copying to clipboard/pasting the info in a reply. Also, take a look in device manager under the ide ata/atapi controllers branch and write out exactly which devices are listed - or just get a screenshot.
-
Ok so now we know exactly what the problem is. If something about your machine doesn't like ImgBurn attempting to change the booktype, tell it not to via the settings (Write tab).
-
The log seems to show you have DMA issues... or the drive where all your 'Source' files are is just REALLY slow. If it's DMA, follow the post in the FAQ to correct it. The disc you burnt there was 1GB in size. Is it actually supposed to be a DVD Video disc? (It's not!) By the looks of it you've just burnt an AVI file or something - in which case 'Mix Media' is probably right.
-
They're actually the same thing so if you add it under one it'll be there under the other. That is to say, the 'Configure Drive OEM' screen applies to both the 'Change Advanced Settings' and the 'Change Book Type' functions.
-
Can you please copy + paste the disc info from the panel on the right when you're in Read mode with that disc in the drive... thanks! Oh and because of this thread (and a suggestion made by a beta team member a while back!) I've added code to log the error codes on all the 'retries' you (the user) perform when the program is trying to set the layer break position. Obviously some important ones are missing from the log here because 'medium not present' is a really weird one to run into mid way through doing something - so it probably followed a bus reset - which you mentioned in your initial post but wasn't logged anywhere.
-
Every drive is different, some handle crappy DL media better than others. If you try and burn that disc again, the LB has probably been moved so just ignore the error when it fails with that 'invalid field in parameter list' message.

Find out which type of controllers you have in your PC and update all their drivers. Do you know anything about the motherboard in your PC?
