  1. As the laser on laptop drives is very exposed, have you tried cleaning it?
  2. There's nothing I can do I'm afraid, this is just some issue with your setup. DMA errors are normally always corrected by replacing the IDE cable to the drive with a decent/new 80 wire one and uninstalling + reinstalling the IDE controller in device manager. With a USB drive, it's not going to be as simple as that. The USB part doesn't have DMA issues so I can only assume it's something inside the enclosure (i.e. between the usb -> ide chip and the drive itself). My advice....take the drive back and get a different one - TOTALLY different.
  3. I'm seeing lots of these errors... Logical Unit Communication CRC Error (ULTRA-DMA/32) To be honest, I've never seen those from USB drives! You might want to double check your cables (and that they're seated properly). I assume it's a real external drive rather than one you've put together yourself? Oh and don't forget to disable I/O debug mode again. It slows things down a lot.
  4. http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm I used the HP util to make mine bootable. Once it's bootable and the basic command.com etc progras have been added by the util, you can go ahead and edit config.sys and autoexec.bat until your heart is content. Personally I just use mine for bios/dos based firmware updates so I use a very basic setup.
  5. ok, I'll order one now and fix whatever needs fixing tomorrow. If I get it working straight off, I won't be happy!
  6. You were trying to change the booktype on DVD+RW? That's what that 'Current Media (For DVD+RW Media)' one is for. What about the others, don't they work?
  7. If the drive won't read any discs, it's probably broken or very dirty.
  8. Might I suggest you get a cheapo 512mb mem stick for this kinda thing? It's sooooooooooo much easier. Simply make it bootable and then copy files to it as you would do any other drive via explorer.
  9. lol yeah, it won't work in ANY player if you burn with 'Test Mode' enabled - there won't be anything on the disc
  10. You're gonna need to enable I/O debug mode (press the F8 key) AND THEN start a burn so I can see why the command keeps failing. If you've enabled it correctly you should see loads more stuff going into the log window (which you should keep open!). Upload the new log when it's ready. Thanks.
  11. I've read that it uses the mediatek chipset so chances are that it'll use the same commands the liteon does.
  12. donta and I both have one each, that's enough for now! We probably make up 10% of the poeple in the UK that have one
  13. Many thanks for the donation
  14. Oh right, well obviously the advanced features are tied to the OEMs. The program doesn't limit the use of the commands, it's down to you to select the right tab. The 'brand' of the drive doesn't come into it. For instance, even though the tab says 'LITE-ON', the commands will still work just fine on a Sony (re)branded drive. For anything that's got an 'automatic' bit associated with it (i.e. 'auto change book type'), you can click the 'Advanced' button and add your drives device ID to the list for the correct OEM if it's not supported straight off.
  15. Well then they'd either start to use their own bitsetting commands or would use an existing command set. I wouldn't know which one until I have one of their new drives in my hand. Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean / are getting at. ImgBurn issues commands set out in the MCC spec to see what a drive can/can't do. There's nothing hardcoded.
  16. No, not in the slightest. Perhaps you're confusing ImgBurn with it's deceased brother, DVD Decrypter?
  17. Is that a Dell laptop? Try the 103D firmware update. http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downl...p;fileid=191376 Assuming they're real/proper Taiyo Yuden TYG02 (i.e. not the cheapo ones datasafe brands), you can't get much better in terms of discs.
  18. They all use a certain type/format command. You just need to find out which one yours uses. If the 810 is really a pioneer, you can't do anything with with the booktype stuff. If it's a liteon, just go into the booktype page and use the liteon tab. ImgBurn is it's own program and is nothing at all to do with Nero. There is no 'drive database' as the software doesn't need one.
  19. It's incomplete somewhere along the line, yes. If ImgBurn is looking for that file then the VIDEO_TS.IFO must be expecting it to be present.
  20. I don't think they really have such things, they just all end up on 0:0:0 or whatever. They'd only ever be useful if you're using ASPI and then it's down to whoever builds the DLL as to which number they give the bus. Why would you want to use ASPI these days?!
  21. I've made it so it'll look for the next blank disc in the changer automatically now when doing a queued burn. So basically, you can fill up the changer, queue 200 images and just press the 'Write' button.
  22. Eject the disc and reinsert it. If the drive won't recognise it then there's nothing anyone can do about it I'm afraid. By 'drivers' I assume you mean firmware? It's the drives firmware that would fix issues like this.
  23. It means you don't have a disc in the drive or if you do, it's one the drive doesn't support.
  24. lol it's quite funny when you consider the name of this place is 'ImgBurn Support Forum'. You just can't help some people!
  25. Nope, never gonna happen I'm afraid.
