yep antec true blue here also, like you say a bit expensive as PS's go but top of the line as far as I'm concerned .no problem running plenty of drives

some drives come out with new firmware pretty often others like NEC drives don't update their firmwares that much .If there's a bunch of new media ,different speeds ,Id's then the manufacturers update or if they find a bug in something they wrote you get an update theres no set rule

Lite on is real easy to flash I have one of their ROMs.Open IMGburn right click on the burner in the destination box ,last line in the menu is update firmware click on it and you will see a window that will tell you what firmware you have click OK and it will take you to the firmware site, find the newest FW for your drive download it and save it, then open the folder Lite On has a firmware flasher which will be in the folder click on that and follow the prompts .Make sure all other programs are closed whie you flash the FW then when its done reboot

I'd get something from the big four ,NEC ,Pioneer ,BenQ (heard on the forum they were bought out) or Plextor ,stay with a quality drive and equally important quality media, thats Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden discs the others are junk compared to these

don't get caught up by the numbers , in the tests and scans for the different types of media you dont get great burns or scans over 12x .I think many of us here burn around 8X and the quality ratings are in the high 90's, I burn everything at 6x and get great burns and flawless playback.Look in the drives and media forum see if it helps you

if you're talking about reading a commercial dvd then the answer is no IMGburn WILL NOT read anything that has copy protection on it

the dye for Verbs (AZO dye ) is made by Mitsubishi Chemical Corp and I suppose CMC may manufacture the discs using different materials than their own crap

I believe that DL's are 8.5 gigs should be fine up to that

sounds like it could be a bad disc . BTW theres a new firmware for that drive 1.10 maybe that will help

its really an adrenaline rush the only thing crazier was when I was in the Air Force and the war planes would be out at the firing range and come back with what they called hung ordinance ,it was a situation where a plane would try to fire its rockets and one or more wouldn't leave the aircraft, they would land not knowing whether the impact from touchdown the rocket might come loose and go screaming down the runway ,foam emergency vehicles and a landing site made for just such an occasion it happened a couple of times I know of

I still lobby that the only use for CMC's is to use them as bikini tops. you are a genius no denying it and in the category of best use of a CMC MAG disc the award goes to (opening envelope ) DB MINTER
