    IMGburn

was looking at some sites for boot disks and found this one www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm when I attempted to download the file it downloaded OK but when I went to open it it opened up IMGburn instead ,strange Download Now ---third one down create CD image
  3. probably has a brother named Fook YU Suk
  4. you can Google "region free" and you'll find what you want or if you right click on your drive in IMGburn's Source box that will bring up a menu click on the last line "firmware updates" and follow the prompts when it takes you to the RPC1 site you might find what you want there
  5. Use vVerbatim +R Dual Layers they are the only ones that really work
  6. The 716 is, if I remember right, older than most if not all of the other drives that have been tested. It has always been a true workhorse. I believe the company puts out a quality product and also stands behind it. All of that said I will not purchase it when it's first released. I will give it a bit of time to see if there are problems. Hopefully LUK will be able to test it. yeah Plextor has a great rep ,a little more expensive than others but not enough to break the bank. Its a good idea to wait a little to let them iron out the bugs and release a few new firmwares and with the wait the price will drop a little .I've found that WWW.newegg.com usually has the new drives first and at good prices their delivery is the best of any retailers I've done buissness with, and hassle free customer support.I have a NEC3500 that I really like flawless burns to Yudens and Verbs I havent burned a coaster in a really long time .I have a Pioneer Rom 115 thats older than sin running original firmware that reads 99.99% of whatever I put in it and what it doesn't read (less than 5discs ) the 3500 reads fine
  7. are there any automatic updaters running on your machine?
  8. yeah his kneeling ability
  9. That moron could't find his ass with both hands ,how did he get it, a favor, a connection ,or does he have some dirt on someone ,it sure wasn't ability
  10. create an ISO with DVD shrink and burn it with IMGburn its that simple use Verbatim +R Dual Layer discs only and you'll get a perfect copy
  11. all the bells and whistles are nice and all quest for faster and faster but arent we seeing with the graphs that the best burned discs are at slower speeds? The Plex does have some neat options ,they do a lot of talking about write stratigies for media that isn't supported in the firmware and creating stratgey for discs that arent covered, all well and good but theres 1 Law in burning cheap media is crap as we all know and then they only reccommend Verbs and Yudens just as we've been saying for ages .There's a lot of hype on this drive but ask yourself how much of it will you use and whats going to be the cost? Hell I'm thinking of dusting off my Sony DRU 510A 4x and burning some stuff with it, all the dvd's I burned with Ritek GO4 a few years ago still play perfect ,but it seems Ritek were making better discs then

    PS3

$900 that guys on crack, that kind of price isn't aimed at the general consumer and then the games are going to be what $100 a pop
  13. Thanks for this. Does this mean that its not possible to set the booktype from within Imgburn?? What does the Booktype option in the Drive menu option do? I'm afraid I dont know much about booktypes and where to look to or how to get the HP drive to write this. Can you give me any clues? Thanks JB to the first question the drive has to support booktype not all do even within the same braand drive NEC for example setting booktype to DVD ROM makes the disc more compatible to players, especially older players . Reading back a disc still comes down to having burned to quality media .You can burn to almost any media with the right drive and firmware BUT reading it back can be an issue for poor media and it usually is .Poor media tends to become unreadable in a short time .Quality media is the key Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are the best bar none anything else is a waste of time and effort
  14. saw that on the news last night and thought WTF are they crazy .Is there no American company in the US thats capable of doing this job .Why give the key to the hen house to a fox .I really dont care if they were investigated back 100 generations .Its like seeing that the IRA is now providing security for 10 Downing Street .I have to believe that public outcry will overturn this most stupid decision
