New optical drive stopped reading perfectly good written dvds
ianymaty replied to generalx's topic in ImgBurn Support
If you not verify the discs you burn you can't be sure that was a decent burn even if it reached at the end burning succesfuly. Some discs burn fine but can't be read back even by the drive that burned them not to mention other readers. That's why verify is so important and nobody who cares about their burns shouldn't disable it. As you say some read, some don't, probably the drive is not totaly toasted, yet. You can try to clean the laser with a cleaning disc or manual. If it gives you some I/O errors it could be chipset/storage drivers related. Try update them. Otherwise probably it don't like the discs or the burn quality is poor. -
This belongs to ImgBurn Support not at Chat but here you go http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 Also update ImgBurn to current version.

And there is the solution, you need to do what Lightnig UK! instructs there. A full erase/format with ImgBurn with 'Prefer Format Without Spare Areas' enabled in the settings (Write tab) -
New optical drive stopped reading perfectly good written dvds
ianymaty replied to generalx's topic in ImgBurn Support
Can it still read original pressed disc? Can it burn a blank? Did you verified you burns at that time? Can you read the discs in other computer/drive or player? -
If I was in your place I would waste one more disc to try 16x, it's a common write speed for CD. Than if no go, try some Verbatim. Than replace the drive with a modern one.

default order in which files are burned to disc
ianymaty replied to shahar's topic in ImgBurn Suggestions
Using IsoBuster you can look at the disc and sort by LBA to see the order on the disc but as I said it will not help you. Your player also could probably play them by tag order if it finds and able to sort them. I don't think any player will follow the physical order from the disc, it will play them by tag if exists than by file name. Again, your only option is to use numbers in front of the names. -
default order in which files are burned to disc
ianymaty replied to shahar's topic in ImgBurn Suggestions
No matter the order they are physical burned on the disc they are played back in alphabetic order. You can remane them as 001-Name.mp3, 002-Name.mp3, ... if you want them in a specific order. -
You can follow this Guide http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=6379 You will need a virtual drive installed to play it in your favorit player or use VLC as it can play directly from ISO

Do you have a disc inserted in the drive? What disc is it, DVD, CD, manufacturer? What it say in the status line at the bottom of the main window? If you take the disc out, is it changing that line? P.S. You should take in consideration upgrading Vista to SP2.
-
The steps are the same just change the destination from drive to image. On the main program under the Destination where is the drive shown, hover over those icons and click on Switch to image output Use the same to switch back to the drive when you finished.

50 gb sony re writable blu ray 45gb writable space

Similar problem resolved here http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=17068&st=0&p=128093 -
Your drive don't like the discs you are using. Notice there are no write supported speeds available reported by its firmware but is trying to use MAX (48x). Try set a lower speed, it may get to the end or try some different media.
-
Try the other speeds available, it's 8x rated media you are using after all. Why slow it down? Forget about the low speed fairytale! Make sure you have the latest chipset/storage controler drivers installed.
-
This is the real problem, the first error There is a pinned thread about this problem http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=7860 Make sure you use the latest firmware (1.00-09) on your drive http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/BH10LS30/files.html Yo can see more firmware version information by going to the Device Capabilities window and when checking for firmware updates. Rightclick on the drive and select one of the last options from the context menu.

You need a valid DVD Video structure (VIDEO_TS Folder with ifo, bup, vob files in it) not just one vob. DVDFlick or DVDStyler will help you
-
The burn and verify looks good, ImgBurn has done its job perfectly. The problem may be in BD stucture. I don't now how its working a BD, yet. Does the disc play nice reading from BD burner played with a software player like Power DVD or Total Media Theatre? If yes the disc is OK. If not, try this: Build the image on your hard drive, mount it in a virtual drive and play it in Power DVD or Total Media Theatre. Does it play nice from the image? If it play nice the structure is OK and the problem is your player. Note that when I say play I mean the disc as a BD structure not the m2ts from the folder. I've seen recommended multiAVCHD for authoring.

Before reinstalling the OS you could burn those discs? Your drive seems to tot like them. Update firmware for your drive http://www.firmwarehq.com/Matshita/UJ-870QJ/files.html
-
Your drive don't like the discs. See, there is no supported write speeds offered. Try again with this firmware update installed http://www.firmwarehq.com/NEC/ND-3450A/files.html Try different media instead of RITEKF1
-
Does the original disc play fine in your player? Post a log with burn + verify. Since you disabled verify you don't realy know if it was a good burn. You can try the other speed too (4x)

Laptop/slimline burners are not recommended for burning DL. If you search the forum you'll find countless posts with problems burning DL with laptop burners. Your only option is to buy a new drive, normal size and put it in an external enclosure. You can look at Optiarc 72xx series for a good DL burner. Or move the file to a computer through LAN and try burn it with that drive.
-
Go for an Optiarc 72xx series. You can find more discussion about drives at myce forum.
-
Can you acces the drive in Explorer. Is it show up in Device Manager? Did you try to shutdown and restart the computer to see if it appears? It is connected to motherboard directly or via an adapter? Update chipset/controler drivers. Update ImgBurn too.

Disable temporary the protection. Get a real antivirus.
