  1. The GoUp (Return) link is simply a link to a particular PGC (0 if none). In the menus domain, you also have the option to set this as a "resume", but this is totally unnecessary as the root menu button always operates as a "resume". So if you are in PGC 1 and GoUp is defined as 2 AND the GoUp Puop is not set, pressing Return on your remote will take you to PGC 2 (assuming there is one). As for your theory about menus being interspersed with titles, this is not possible, except where there are buttons over video (buttons in the titles domain). Menus inhabit the 0.VOBs. Titles inhabit the 1-9.VOBs. Logos can be in the menu or title itself or both. They are, after all, just bits of multiplexed video, just like any other. Or the title can play a cell and non-seamlessly branch to another title (or menu) and play a logo and non-seamlessly return. In fact, you can get the DVD to do whatever you like if you author it well enough. Even play the cells "backwards", which would have been very useful on Memento (I think that was the DVD where the storyline was kinda played back to front). As for me, I don't like PuOps. I don't like that the companies can tell me what I can and can't press on my remote. As for "unintended consequences", once the flick has started, I tend not to use the remote too much Regards
  2. Read and implement Regards
  3. Typical helpful Scouser reply!!! :D :D :D Regards
  4. TopPG or PrevPG Search, if on, prohibits the prev button on the remote from doing anything. This is useful in Chapter Menu PGCs but little use elsewhere. NextPG Search is the same for the Next button. GoUp prohibts the GoUp PGC link from being executed. The rule I have is no PUOps except in Menus. Make them 192 (which probits TopPG and NextPG). You only wanna go to the Next or Prev PG via a button. I leave VOB Puops alone if the DVD has angles/ILVUs. If not, I get ridda them all. PgcEdit does this very efficiently. Regards
  5. Never a truer word spoken. Regards
  6. Cornholio7 is correct. This unit does not write DVDs, does it? Look in Tools --> Drive --> Capabilities Regards
  7. Penny drops. Thank you. (Skulks away red-faced) Regards
  8. I saw somewhere the latest firmware for this drive is B103, but for the life of me I can't find it. Not on DB or RPC-1 It's a fairly new drive, right? Regards
  9. Well, the spec is the spec. It may not be standard (ie normal) but it is the specification. Regards
  10. OK - found something in our testing. 1. Turn on program debug mode (F6) and then in build mode, try to build your ISO. Forget about building to device at this stage. Post the log (it will hang while trying various padding) 2. Turn off 32k gaps in the build settings. See if you can build an ISO now. Regards
  11. I got that message a few times in build mode (stopping at 66%). I think it stops on 66% for a reason in the settings. Not at all sure why. Perhaps something to do with the "don't prompts" Make sure your Build settings are set to default. Will be back. I wouldn't try to burn it if you can't make an ISO. Regards
  12. And my Maggies!!! Regards
  13. Welcome to ImgBurn Forum! Yes, it does apply to a laptop. What drive do you have? Copy and paste the info from the top right corner of the app in Write mode. As well, look at the Update Your Firmware link in my signature. Change your media to Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens. Regards
  14. Here they are. Doesn't appear so. Regards
  15. Seems to me that your issue is before actually burning to this trashy media anyway. Is this disk mastered correctly? Does no layer break dialogue come up? From your post, it sounds like it does. Can we see a screenshot of the Create Layer Break dialogue please? See the guides section for how the build mode should work. Also, try building first to file, not device - particularly, with those CMCs. And make sure your media is set to DVD+R DL in the advanced section of build mode. Can you post also your IFO files please? Regards
  16. Well, it's nice not to have it. First time I experienced a LB pause I took the DVD back! Copped it again and finally read the fine print on the cover. After that, I became an anti-LB crusader! Another close Grand Final mate Regards
  17. That's unusual Ken. The LB is very noticeable on may DVDs (particularly earlier ones which didn't really care too much about aesthetics). Regards
  18. It's really up to the programmers of the players as to how strictly they adhere to the DVD Specification. The standard is the standard - it is in the spec. It is not a rough "standard". If the standalone players choose to disregard that, so be it. Regards
  19. Well done miocor!! Bugcatcher of the month. Regards
  20. Actually, the files don't grow as you have observed - they are just placed at slightly different places on the DVD (gaps are introduced). This is opposed to packing them in tightly together. Using gaps makes for a safer output. Regards
  21. In VIDEO_TS.IFO/BUP for example, the first byte that is off is 0x0f. This is the last sector of VMG in the IFO. It is exactly as LUK says. 5 sectors of padding have been added to ensure things end at 32k boundaries. Regards
  22. @Argggg Check out Tools --> Drive --> Capabilities to see what your drive thinks it is capable of. Regards
  23. Right. See http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.6.2 However, it seems that this "rule" is a rule in name only as plenty of players will play DTS alone, as you have observed. Regards
  24. @LUK - I've never seen an LB inside a menu VOB. Doesn't mean it can't be or that it would be bad. Might be a bit weird if the LB was in a menu (eg a chapter menu) that went back and forwards across the LB (particularly if the LB was non-seamless). Hardly a worry and maybe in some personally authored DVDs, the only place might be inside a menu. However, in all commercial DVDs, I wonder if breaking inside a menu is useful? Perhaps some sort of option to turn it off? OOTH, if it came to breaking in a menu or a movie, I'd take the menu. Just more of my crap for thought. Regards
  25. Maybe I'm an old timer but SPLIP sounds like some drunken sod with a slipped disk. "Layer break" makes more sense to me (and the ROW, I suspect). Regards
