  1. Well I can understand your home dvd player objecting then as I believe that a lot of US players won't play PAL or European format discs. It doesn't answer why your PC won't tho as in my experience they don't tend to give a rats ass as to whether its NTSC or PAL.
  2. I agree the source disk is shite but he is also using Verbs Shamus
  3. Whoa hang on at the start of your log it says the source disc is PTP or Parallel Track Path, is this a Navigation DVD by any chance ? If so you won't be able to back it up cos all DL DVD media burns OTP or Opposite Track Path. The disc you are trying to burn reads from the centre out to the edge and then the laser resets to the centre again and starts reading a second layer from the centre again. The OTP reads from the centre to the edge and then from the edge back to the centre on DL discs. The thing that is confusing me is that it doesn't appear to be a dual layer disc as the source, does the source disc actually work ? It looks a little weird to me as it's reporting PTP
  4. I see you have Test mode enabled, have you changed any of the other settings in the program ? Can I suggest you restore the defaults, via the Tools, Settings panel so we know there is nothing else going on here Then try an another burn for us and post the log up.

You do - you get volvo to help you spell it all out !!!
  6. and don't forget to let us know if that fixed your problem
  7. I agree with all the fella's above don't even bother trying Dual Layer burns without the Verbatim DVD+R DL's ( DO NOT BUY THE DVD-R DL's). Check out the Drives/Media area where different drives have burnt DL media, only the Verbatims stand up to the tests consistently....
  8. <passes clean hanky to Shamus> I would visit any forum just to see Kev's Av every day !!
  9. They look like they could be CMC made don't they ?
  10. Ah yes teenage years watching Red Dwarf !!
  11. So your files are in PAL format - are you in an NTSC area ?
  12. I have plenty left over from the disc tests Shamus, give me your mail address and I will express courier them to you this evening, I have had them a month already so they might not last much longer
  13. Classic Red Dwarf episode when the Cat and Lister discuss going with either Betty or Wilma springs to mind....
  14. You keep refering to Nero - have you asked them ?
  15. Hey Altercuno - don't feel bad you should see Fred and Betty in action
  16. Cheers donta, you have one don't you ?
  17. Just wondered if the problematic disc maybe has a film in say NTSC format and the player used only accepts PAL format or vice versa ? Obviously the PC drive will play it back (given decent media) no matter whether it's a US format NTSC film or a Euro/UK PAL format film but some players can be picky on this can't they ? Guess it would depend on whether Daniel can play the original film on the same player ok ?

  20. Maybe the actual Media ID of the older CMC's you are using is different to the current batch with which you are having troubles ? As above tho I wouldn't use them as they are too problematic..... don't take my word for it have a look at the Drives/Media section of this forum

  23. I had very hit and miss results with the Verbatim DVD-RW you are using, check out the media scans below: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1545 As you will see the BenQ did ok but the NEC hated them, isn't the Optiarc and NEC collaboration ? Like donta said try gettting some decent media like Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims DVD?R's.
