  1. Assume that you have some media codes on your discs that is not supported with the original firmware, by experimenting you can try to use a write strategy for another media code for those discs. It's also possible to get the 4x rated discs to burn faster by tweaking the firmware. It was very common in the old days. The Nec 1300 could be a nice burner with tweaked firmware.
  2. I have the same issue with that burner and Verbatim -R discs. It seems to happen only at 6x speed. The first time I saw the write speed drop to zero and stay there for some seconds I just waited for the nice little window that tells you about a write/I/O error to show up, but it never did, instead the burning continued and rise to 6x as it should. It happens around in the middle of the burn. A disc quality scan shows no issues at all. My guess is that there is some type of re calibration going on.
  3. Not that tricky to find Verbatims online. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8207324

  5. Hi and welcome to the forum, FAllenShadows! The same issue has been reported by others the latest days. It could be a virus or something else. So far nobody has reported back a working solution. Try to run this program - it's free. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Another issue might be that you have two PATA devices with the wrong jumper settings on the same IDE cable. (both as masters or slave).

    DVD-RAM Media

Tried to find some discs in my town this weekend but they are tricky to find in computer shops, atleast in my town.
  7. Sony + Nec started Optiarc. Now it's only Sony. The 7240 is based on Nec chipset and not just a rebadged Lite-On as some Sony/Optiarc models are.
  8. The way I go when bok typing Pioneers is to run the updater in post #6. (Or unzip the .exe file 7-zip.org ) That will create a folder on your hard disk with a bin file inside. Take this file and load it in MediaCodeSpeedEdit and add bitsetting function with it. Then flash the new bin file with DVRFlash.

    Help!

You could try the cheap option first - clean the laser head with one of those magic cleaning discs.

    Help!

Hi and welcome to the forum, desta! Had the same burner as you have and it got the very same problem as you are facing. It could burn - but it wouldn't want to read the disc it just had burned. If I tried to read the burned disc in another burner/reader it was ok. Try to put in a disc that you burned ages ago and see if you can use the read mode in ImgBurn. If you have the same issue as I had - it will not be readable.

  12. No idea where you live but they are not that expensive. Avoid re badged ones. Pick one that can burn +/- RW + DL (double layer) media.
  13. Hi and welcome to the forum, pittsme! Might be that the DVD is protected and ImgBurn can't deal with such discs.
  14. DVDs that you buy in a store with a movie on it.
  15. Hi and welcome to the forum, FlexyPLEXX! Might be because they seem to be rebadged Lite-Ons. http://club.cdfreaks.com/f43/new-drives-px...px-610u-255426/ If they are - you should be able to trigger the book type function by adding 'PLEXTOR DVDR PX-850SA' in the Advanced settings under Lite-On. See '4.2.12.2 Advanced' in this guide: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=6392
  16. Hi and welcome to the forum, tommy2k6! Perhaps it's already bootable. Load the .iso file in the Write mode and see what file system that is one the image/iso file. If it's this - just burn it. File System(s): ISO9660 (Bootable)
  17. As suggested before, post the filter driver list. You'll find it here: Tools -> Filter Driver Load Order Press the 'Copy To Clipboard' button and paste the info into a posting window here.
  18. On the fly means that the changes are carried out - but you will not see any check boxes being changed in the user interface (the programs window).
  19. To be honest, I'm more interested in the basic functions and I'm still in DOS mode when it comes to this new graphical stuff. Some programs have the ability to import customized icon schemes, like DVDInfoPro so the various users can have their own favorite icons in the program.
  20. I meant the red part around ImgBurn.
  21. The red stuff in the upper left corner gives me Nero vibrations.
