The disc's are certified at 2.4X so really should only be burnt at that speed. Would try 1 disc at that speed at least before springing for a new burner.

it means that you have to have a special kind of DVD player, that plays mpeg4 as well as mpeg2, Divx/xvid/mp4 etc. If your player cannot play avi then you would have to convert the avi to mpeg2 which takes quite a long time depending on the power of your cpu/hard drives etc what make and model of dvd player do you have ?

or try dropping write speed to 8X, better off getting better disc's though.

you considered using 2.4x as write speed instead of 4x

from the size of the sectors either its in very poor quality or its avi and you have to have a dvd player that is capable of playing AVI/DIVX/XVID/MPEG4. you should maybe also free up some space on the drive your creating ISO's on

I had no trouble at all with my sons nfs carbon backup using imgburn, maybe it was down to the disc's and speed you choose to burn them at. Development and testing of any program requires enough time for anyone involved to be assured it works as intended before releasing newer versions. I'm sure it will be here shortly, though your problems were something else

Maybe try what i posted in november as they never came back to say whether that worked or not as i never get the error after doing the above and i barely used media player anyways.

OK then its not faulty , try burning some other DVD +R media that is not dual layer, try also tyg02 or 3 -r media. If it works with other +R single media and DVD-r media then the YUDEN + media you have is either substandard or faked

There is no write strategy for 2x on +R media. If the disc/writer shows anything above it's rated speed it's a bonus if it works and a curse when it does not. Those verbs disc's are certified at 2.4X only

why choose max, choose the slowest and more than likely rated write speed of 2.4X

Your theory makes no sense unless the ty media you have is fake. Just because it burns to verbatim does not mean your plextor is not faulty, fair enough if you also burn thousands of disc's successfully with various dye, then the second you try and burn various batches of taiyo yuden you get a problem. Its like saying i tried ImgBurn to write to disc it failed but the 2nd i tried with nero it worked, as it would have not worked in nero and worked in ImgBurn if you had a time machine and reversed the order you tried. So maybe the tys you have are faulty or faked. Maybe your plextor is faulty. The plextor i had was faulty from day one woudl write 5 discs of the trot, t hen the next 5 would fail when trying to set book type on a dvd-r which is not possible but it still tried and destroyed multiple disc's. All you can do is update the firmware, make sure image is good, use decent media on a know clean install of XP or whichever operating system your using, then if it still fails like that accept it is faulty and return it as such.

if you manually selected 2X , don't pick 2.4 instead but if you selected 2.4 then get a firmware update as shamus directed.

Bought it 2 weeks ago just tried it out last 20 minutes. Exhausted now, just had a quick go of wii sports / tennis and the golf, god i am so unfit. Also you must look demented to onlookers if they see thru ya window. Control system is very good if a little odd and not totally sure i like it or rather my joints will cope with it, really only bought it to play Zelda and the shit load of game cube disc's i have in cupboard.
